  1. Yes. No need for a press if you don't have one. I did my GB and FSB without one and it wasn't bad. As said, the FSB alignment does take a little time. With the hand guard retainer, just index it with your hand guard or gas tube that you're going to use, slit with a dremel to index and then use a round file to get the shape. Easy.

  2. Don't NEED a pic but take your dust cover off, pull the spring and bolt out then look inside just behind the start of the barrel. If the spot just behind and below the start of the barrel is basically a half circle you need the round BG, if it has angles you need the flat kit. You'll see what i mean.

As far as which brand is better, I've never heard that before and have two bullet guides from CSS (one flat & one round) and they work just fine. My buddy also has one that's fine. As far as install all you gotta do is carefully drill a hole with the provided bit then swap the bit out with the provided threading tool and carefully thread the hole. I put red loctite on the screws and tighten them good and snug but dont over tighten! You definitely dont want to strip the threading or you'll be welding the bullet guide on. Im not the best at explaining things.. if you don't understand then take the cover, spring and bolt out and put a loaded mag in the gun. It's the spot right in front of the tip of the bullet. You'll know right away if you need the rounded or flat BG

    Hope that helps!

Also, when tapping the hole, go slow and don't run the tap too deep so that it hits the receiver or it'll snap off.

  3. I was going to try and pick one up because it looked like a great piece with all metal construction. I run the JTE AR-15 Trigger guard on my rigs and emailed Fostech about its compatibility and they told me it was a no go. I burn through enough ammo as is, so just decided to throw that money toward more ammo. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

  4. I went down the conversion route and after weighing the options and prices, found it best to buy a parts kit and go that route. Found a Bulgy parts kit that had the 74 brake, FSB, GB, rear sight, HG retainer, etc etc and bought it. Now I have extra parts, plus saved money instead of buying everything else separate or new. The down side was I had to remove the FSB and GB, notch the barrel for the retainer and drill the barrel to pin the new components. That big of a deal? No. The outcome was the way I wanted it to look and function so I'm happy.

  5. I looked quick on CSS and MAA so don't hold me to it, but it looks like the Phoenix would go straight back. Some setups do and some don't..

For mine I did the CSS internal receiver block, pig nose adapter, magpul buffer tube and stock. I just don't care for the look of the angled ones.

  6. I haven't had any hands on with them, or rail mount lights in general, but when I was thinking about picking one up I looked at Elzetta's stuff.. Seems to literally be tougher than nails and a quality product.. Just an observation and option that hasn't been mentioned..

  7. The measurements that are given for your brake are for the threading (internal diameter). The threading tool will cut to match this so that the outer diameter of your barrel matches the inner diameter of your brake as it threads on. It may butt now, but when you thread it, you'll be removing material so it should all work, assuming the threading tools and size of the brake are compatible and as advertised.

  8. I used the Rustoleum Engine Enamel up to 2000F. It's flat black, and not pretty, but it's better than what it was before. But I may go for gold now XD

Actually... satin gold and the black laminate furniture sounds... attractive.

I just sprayed my mil surp drum with this because it had a couple of marks on it and I wanted to see what that paint would look like. Doesn't look like the rifle finish, but its fine for a drum.
