Colonel Hawker did not provide a great deal of information regarding the Candle Cartridge in the Sixth Edition of Instructions To Young Sportsmen (published in 1830). However, he does provide instructions for making the Candle Cartridge:
Candle Cartridges. Fill a socket, within the size of your cylinder, with melted tallow, and when it has cooled so far as to be about the consistence of thick cream, pour your shot 1 in, and shake it well together. When nearly cold, close all by a little pressure on the top; and, when quite hard, shut up your cartridge, and you are ready for action. Just go and see how this shoots. Though I condemn tallow confined in wire, I can see no objection to it when merely covered with light paper. am indebted to my friend Captain Ward for this discovery, and a schedule of its excellent performance

I mainly stock ammo for what I have, but I do have a few odd rounds that somehow found their way into my stockpile. Not many, but a few!
If you want to stock trade goods - Bic lighters!! They are dirt cheap in bulk, and if TSHTF they will be worth more than gold for trade, alcohol is good too!
I have a few.

Am I the only one who does this? I've been buying up 9mm since prices have somewhat normalized. i haven't owned a 9mm in years, but something tells me to buy the shit out of it right now.
I also have a fair amount of 5.56 I bought right, but have never owned an AR, My tastes may change at some point but I don't even plan on having an AR anytime soon.
Of course I also stock up on ammo for the platforms that I do own.
I really do think that a time will come when ammo will become almost "priceless."
I know this has been said a million times on here, but buy it cheap and stock it deep fellas. No better time than NOW.
You Sir have more money than you need, send me some money, please.
That said, no I do not buy what I do not need, if fact I buy firearms in calibers I have.
Being I cast, PC and reload for every caliber I shoot but 22, it just make sense to me.
