  1. Yes... it has the "Y" stamp. You can tell by the little vertical indention in the receiver (above the mag release) in the photo.

I think they used a stock photo and not one of the actual gun being sold.

Bastards! I had that happen before when I was looking for a dimpled Saiga .223. I made sure to check before I bid, and sure enough, it was a stock photo. The one they were actually selling didn't have the dimples... so beware.

  2. Well I certainly appreciate all the input, did not intend to start WW3 :killer: (LOL). Deep down inside this old man has been a desire for a good AR15, so again thanks for the input.

    The search begins.

    Joe

Get the AR... don't mess around with the Mini(s). I've owned a 14 and a 30 and sold them off about as fast as I bought them.

Now the 10/22... that's a good Ruger rifle!

  3. Those are pricey folders for sure. I have two of them on my rifles tho... and they are great quality.

What I'd do is look for someone selling demilled parts with the triangle folder and the hardware (4.5mm pin size and make sure it has the front latch too). Then keep and eye open for someone selling just the solid folding US made stock... buy it, swap it out and sell the triangle. Just my 2 cents...

I paid $110 for a triangle folder with all the hardware, $100 for a used solid folder (sold the triangle for $60) and $40 for a set of used K-Var US made handguards and PG. So I ended up paying $190 for the entire solid folding stock set-up in the end (much better than $279 like K-Var). But you have to search for the shit... instead of just "click" and it's done.

  4. I just sent off a Form 1 for my first AR SBR on Wednesday of last week and I'm planning on engraving the lower when the stamp comes back.

But, I didn't think engraving was needed when I was in the process of my first SBR (Arsenal 107CR), so I called the ATF and spoke with Anton Wood back in July (2007). I point blank asked him that if I was modifying an existing firearm which was already engraved with the original manufacturer's name and address, would I have to engrave my info too?? He said yes... since I was the maker of a new NFA firearm.

Lammy... you do make a great argument tho. And then KY's letter....... I just love how the ATF is so ambiguous.
