  1. I'd do it myself seeing that is isn't very difficult with a few basic tools and the Shiek has up the website with all the peerdy pics and info. My problem is I find myself returning to AKUSA's website to stare at their finished product. $1000 is way over my gun budget but..but..but.. I can't stop thinking about going for it.

  2. As it was explained in my class for a concealed weapon's permit, hollow points are legal to carry (duh) but if used in a crime, they can tack on an additional charge (something about having especially destructive ammo). I'm sure this is a KY only state law that is rarely even implemented, but the logic seems sound to me.

Makes zero sense to me. I think the whole concept concerning the design of a bullet is to be as destructive as possible. "I never meant to kill him.. I just wanted all his bodily functions and brainwaves that were about to cause my death to cease instantly!"

I know what you mean but I just hate add-on laws. The basic crime commited should be all that is needed.

My prediction is that there will be a new case of gun violence that will jump into the headlines that will spur on the next ASB before Sept.

I agree with the Shiek..my country has turned into soft-bellies. "Look! There's a crack in the sidewalk. Someone call the sidewalk police! There should be a law against that! SUUUUUU!" yeesh.

  3. Hi and welcome alduro!

You didn't search too good. Go back a few pages in this thread and look for subject about adding a pistol grip(PG). I started on this board and these guys supplied me all the information and details. You can do it with basic tools and about $100 in US made parts to meet AWB requirements.

    Here is instant help:

  4. Who did the work for you? I'm going to give it one..just one attempt. I have my parts located but I'm not feeling too confident about getting that darn FSB back on and aligned correctly. I just got done re-installing a new FSB on a Romanian sar(guess why  ) Talk about getting ugly-yeesh. I need better methods and better tools if I'm going to tinker. The new sight didn't come with the sight barrel and post installed and I swear I pushed that thing back and forth 10x before I got it lined up right. The sight post with it's spread apart bottom was fun too.

  5. To avoid a jet-lag type symptom, from a rapid withdrawl of weapons bans and/or the irrational connection between violent crime and weapon based laws, I would highly recommend a brief stay in the Republic of Kalifornia before proceeding into the USA. I wouldn't want to scare ya off just cuz we greet you at the door with our shoot'in irons. We just like to carry 'em all the time! :D

Pick'in a new caliber to play with is always a tuff call. For me, it is usually based on how much I can tinker reloading vs which rifle model I purchase. Since you are in the UK and like a little recoil with your paper puncher..I think you hafta go with the 375HH mag. 1st thing I think of when someone says, "London". England scores high marks with me when it comes to weapons..too bad you can't use 'em.

(just teasing-I fear we are a few years-right behind ya) then we revolt again! :lolol:

  6. Roger that-Aethelber. Thanks for the reply. My kid spurred on my idea of the Saiga 410 shotgun and I wouldn't mind the extra fun of doing the conversion..atleast as far as I can take it with my basic tools and my limited knowledge.

Yes-my aka is taken from one of my all-time-fav actors playing in one of my all-time-fav movies. I started using it while cowboy-action shooting..then on-line aerial combat-then for everything else that an alias was required.

  7. They are actually made. Maybe just for the Republic of Kali? I ran across them for sale and almost died laughing. Talk about reverse technology. I started to search the net for the blackpowder model. :lolol: If I remember correctly it was not a shotgun but a rifle converted to a pump action.

  8. Sure you can do the conversion! Shiek has done all the hard work by posting all the pics and instructions. If I can do it -you can. You can easily do the pistol grip and rear stock conversion with very basic tools. If you have a Durhams sporting goods store they sell them and if not any good gun shop can order you one for around 200ish.

  9. S! Hi asu174,

It depends alot on want you want and are willing to pay for. If you are after a completed rifle with all the bells and whisles then I would buy AKUSA's finished Saiga. Runs about 800ish for a rifle with all the custom work.

I worked from the opposite direction. I decided I wanted an AK and then went to look at one at my local gunshop. My 1st look at a AK type up close scared me..yeesh. Kinda brutal looking beast compared to what I'm used to and priced to scare too. I remembered seeing a black, AK looking rifle at the local sporting good store and drove all the way back home to look. I wrote down the names on the side and came home to "search"..ended up here. :lolol: 189 from Durhams the next day. I still will probably buy a AKUSA rifle sooner or later but currently I'm enjoying adding aftermarket parts to my Saiga(with everyones help here). I can't do the muzzle break or AK split style forearms yet but I got distracted by my the SAR I bought and the kit I'm buying and the gun show coming in two weeks...AHHHHHHHH I'm ADDICTED!

    Bet that helped alot, huh?
