  4. Why Convert a Saiga Rifle?

    ...cause the Saiga cost 200 brand new and shiny right from the Russian factory whereas my SAR kinda went around the world a few laps and then had the flash suppressor ripped off and the barrel defaced by the folks who needed to make it band- era legal...which was o.k. except they kinda put the front, sight block back on-crooked and I could not sight- it in til I came here and learned all about AKs and what was wrong with my SAR-1(I paid 350 for).

     

    I fixed the SAR-1 and changed out all the wood stocks for Kvar black with heat shielded forearms(sweet) and then I bought the SAIGA and appreciated all it tightness and quality JUST before I got out the dremel tool! :lolol:

    Whatever your wallet will bear..lol. Haven't really thought on it yet. Lets see..200 sompin a Dunhams..PG..Romanian non-folder..DBLhookG2..retainer hook.. shot 5 rounds through it. 250? If you have a trigger group already or Pg we can start subtracting..S12 coming here.

     

    I'll to post better pics if you are interested in it. My camera is a freebee and I need sunlight. I put a doublehook G2 in it and allenheads where rivets were.

    I tried to buy the metal one about a year ago and was contacted by RPB to let me know he could only supply the poly version. Rgr that on the website needing updated...lol.

     

    Let us know if the plastic stock seems tough enuff ..I want one for my Saiga12 when it comes in.

    Can't help you with the smith but I'm seriously looking into adding a rifled choke tube. I have a Rem870SP and it has a 3" rifled choke tube that amazingly enough..puts those plain- jane 1 ounce Sluggers down range to 100 yards in a 3" target if I do my part correctly.

     

    I know.. your prolly looking at the rifled thing for others reasons. I think the judge would still call it a shotgun just before he sends you through the back door. :unsure:

    I wish I was from Texas. I didn't ask about the 2 items you wonder of. I'm going to convert after I dig alittle on here to see what I might turn her into. First time for me and a Saiga12 so I have some reading to do. I spotted a fine looking flashsup on someone's shotgun that posted here. I just hope to find the larger mag someday for less than the whole shotgun! :rolleyes: Dang them EAA friends for starting then stopping the show.

    I might part with my 410 converted. Tired of waiting for a bunch of 10 rnd mags. The whole idea was to take the kids out blasting clay pidgeons..but now I'm having seconds thoughts...safety and ammo prices of 410. I just ordered a Saiga 12...for ME! Call on me if you are thinking about buyng a 2nd 410. I'll post a pic after dinner. Hbg, PA
