  1. Guys, I am speaking for everyone by saying please start a new thread to continue to lengthy conversations that do not contain VEPR 12 pictures, and please try your best to keep this a picture and gallery thread for VEPR 12's please. Thanks in advance comrades.

Since the holidays are here, let me revive one of my holiday pics of the VEPR 12:

  2. I admit when I couldn't have a folder, I wanted one.

Now I have one, and I prefer my UBR/Rifled Dynamics stock over any possible folding setup (Russian/AR Adapted).

I have mine, and bought a non-folder from Centerfire as they were 849 delivered last week. They are now out of stock. A friend asked me if he could buy it but I am not so sure, I was considering doing another non-folder build. I offered him my 922/folding, otherwise stock folder and he wanted the UBR type non-folding as well.

Anybody know if more non-folders are available or incoming? Retail of course, I am sure he can pick one up on the secondary market.

I looks like you got in on the black friday centerfire deal. That's the best deal I've ever seen, good job snatching it up. The V12 is the most fun to shoot and is a real crowd pleaser.

  3. This piece seems to be bent ? What is this? I dont think the bolt is bent I think it naturaly has that angle...but idk? I need help importer tgi says they no longer have smiths....

If your firing pin was bent to begin with, it will most likely become stuck and cause a slam fire. Simply replace your firing pin. Please contact and inquire with Molot USA Customer Service.

  4. Just wanted to share with you guys my experience this past Saturday with rifled slugs on my V12. On the left are two different shots (1 from me, and another from an Army buddy, both at 100 meters, we hit basically the same spot with a red dot). The right is a shot by me from a 270 winchester at 100 meters.

  5. I've never cleaned it because I wanna see how reliable it will run since it's an Kalishnakov AK design. It doesn't require lube, so do not get anal about keep her wet. Just like Jim Fuller said, "If it runs dry, it will run wet." The only thing i've done is wiped the puck down with a rag. If i ever do decide to clean, I will use FIRECLEAN, simply the best hands down.

  6.

I highly recommend replacing the factory trigger as it was not reliable for me (during my extensive testing of clay shooting).

Can you elaborate? I had issues with my trigger, as well.

Several times I experienced the trigger hammer not being released after pulling the trigger. The slide was already racked (and the hammer was locked back). I visually inspected it each time as well. I threw in the trigger from Texas Shooters Supply and had zero issues since (an added plus is that it adds 3 parts for 922r compliance). What failure did you experience?

  7. -The finish on my VEPR 12 is superb. I ordered two VEPR 12's and the second VEPR 12 finish was sub-par and required a refinish.

-SGM (12 and 10 rounds) mags require a bit of custom fitting on the mag for smooth insertion.

-The upper handguard was a breeze for me to remove/install as well as the 2nd VEPR 12.

-You have to admit that a factory Saiga 12 (I had one also and sold it for a very good profit after conversion) was no where near the quality of where a factory VEPR 12 is. I ordered two Saiga 12's before and they were both horrible in quality standards and required lots of TLC.

-I highly recommend replacing the factory trigger as it was not reliable for me (during my extensive testing of clay shooting).

-I highly recommend polishing the bolt and trigger.

-The factory safety is all a personal thing to get adjusted to, better to manipulate with duty gloves on. Not a fan of AK type safeties as they can inch upwards by accident.

-You are missing the bolt release button feature. The Saiga 12 required racking the bolt to release it.

-I'm offering $600 to take it off of your hands... lol

  8. What is the best way to upload a video?   I looked over the forum and could not find any good information on how to get a video onto the forum.   I hand cycled the gun and got the same results.  I took two different 5 round magazines and they cycled fine.  The factory 8 had feed issues.  What I noticed is that back side of the round falls down and the front goes up.  When the back side of the round goes down, the bolt hold-open rides over the round and locks the bolt back.

    youtube!

  9. Ladies, less yappin' and more pictures/videos please. We need pics of the magazine, point of error following your replicated issue, and questionable parts of your vepr 12 that may not be functioning correctly. There are more than one possible causes to a symptom, and we need to diagnose it correctly.

  10.

He's still on the ak forum. I bought one of the ones he had specially machined for replacements about a year ago.

Folks seem to be pretty happy with the sub-$100 microdots from Primary Arms. They were sold out for some time, but are recently back in stock.

I just read that he is out of the business, but his daughter is running the operation now. I will give them a try and see if it pans out.

I am afraid the cheap microdot sights... I bought a Sig micro-sight (Aimpoint T1 clone) and used it for a while on my S12, but it failed not too long after I started using it - that is why I went with the REAL Aimpoint T-1.

Have no fear, I've been running a Primary Arms Micro Dot on my VEPR 12 since day one. I've shot all kinds of loads and go clay shooting with it frequently. Over 700 rounds through her and the optic has not failed me yet. Rated at 1000 hour battery life, no auto off feature, but you can't beat the value for the price. BTW the SIG T-1 clone is complete trash.

I would look into a burris fastfire III next (if i had the cash it would be a leupold deltapoint), less bulk.

The T1 is actually perfect especially if you have night vision and an IR emitter.

  11.

" I highly recommend the VEPR 12 FCG from Texas Shooters Supply"

I will second that - dropped right in and it provides an excellent trigger pull !! Wouldn't use anyone else's.

That $80 modified Tapco trigger from TSS is the same exact modified

one we sell for $45. Drops right in with no mods.

I do believe many owners here also have the CSS G2 Tapco modified trigger as well (CSS will more than likely deliver your trigger to you faster), but Dimitri of Texas Shooters Supply has told me that they do a couple things to them - including sand blasting them, but visually I couldn't tell the difference. I picked it up in person because I was able to drive to Texas Shooters Supply in person as well as check out their little store front - LOTS of AK goodies.

  12. I highly recommend the VEPR 12 FCG from Texas Shooters Supply. Zero mods on the consumer end, and it drops right in, switched mine out in 15 minutes tops.

I'm not sure how to widen the pin tube except for using a round file or a tungsten drill bit with a dremel, which still could end up not fitting perfectly. Good luck!

  13. Factory mags are the best, but they are limited to 8 rounds.

And stay away from Factory 10-rounds mags, they are ugly bastards made from two 8-rounds mags.

on the topic of factory molot arms 10-round mags, they were a hit or miss for me, so i made sure the shipper tested the mag by filling all 10 rounds before shipping. i tested the molot arms 10 round while shooting clay and it functioned flawlessly. PZ mentioned the real molot factory will offer real 10 rounders in the future, no specific date...

No go, have 4 from a later batch and 2 from orginal batch, all of them don't feed properly. Shells get caught up at the top, I'll probably try sanding them. Fit is awful have to pound these things in, bolt hold doesn't work on a any of them with heavy or light loads. My factory 5 works fine, feeds fine and fits fine, will be picking up over priced factory 8s.

please read the warranty guidelines for the mags before sanding. you may need to call SGM first and have them swapped out.

  14. it wouldn't be that hard to modify any existing drum to work in any gun of the same caliber as the drum. you aren't actually modifying the internals of the drum itself, you're just adding a feed tower to it, using the existing stick mag.

it wouldn't be all that difficult to make a S12 drum fit in a VEPR, without removing the mag well.

    1- S12 drum + 1 VEPR stick mag + and a few spacer shells = VEPR drum

what would you use to bond the vepr mag to the drum permanently?

  15. New toy I just picked up.

This is my first Vepr, I have a 433 from Legion USA, and I was browsing their website and came across this little beauty.

    Just unpacked it

Put a spare 433 magazine I had lying around

I did a little research before I picked this up, and I saw the Legion USA version was $50 more expensive than Atlantic, or Mississipi but it also has the railed hand guard, and railed gas block, and they have free shipping so when I factored it all in the choice was easy. I also ordered their 10 round mag.

As always Alex is a pleasure to deal with.

I'll be taking this to the range on Monday and see how she runs, I'll post some extra pictures after I run through a few boxes of shells.

    WE HAVE A WINNER!
