    Ok I have been thinking about this for a while. Tony gave me the idea by the way.

     

    A set of Galil sights on the S12? I own a few Galils and I love them. I have Galil pistol Grip on my S12 and I am going to put an Ace folder on as well. The Galil top cover looks like it will fit with out MUCH modification. My thought is ti should not be THAT hard to make a front sight but my questions are,

     

    What is under the rib on top of the Gas Block? Is there enough materiel there to drill into or would the front hood have to be soldered on?

     

    OR would a slip on front sight like the KREBS be a better option?

     

    Will Tonys Galil hand guard Adapter fit real Galil hand guards?

  5. What did you pay for your Saiga 12 when you bought it?

    I coughed up $270.00 clams and that came with one mag. The seller fished the second out of the box and tried to sell it to me for $30.00 more.

     

    A buddy cought another seller late in the day at a gunshow and got one of the 19 inch no ribe versions for $240.00 out the door. Now this was a couple of years ago...

     

    I think I will keep my eyes peeled for another.

    We have been working with Ultimak for a few months on this project, prototypes will be out this month for testing , we will send a few of these to members of this board for evaluation, we do not expect to see these in sales circulation for a few months.

    Can your average gunsmith do this install or is it fairly involved? I would like to shorten my barrel from 19 down to something shorter. How short can you go with the polly choke and a permanate install and still make an overall 18 inch barrel?

    I called Ultimak and they said at LEAST a month if not more. Also they are TOYING with making their three rail set up adapt to the Saiga 12. the guy I talked to was like "well we don't know if there is much interest in the Saga 12..." So here is the deal, start calling them up and asking about the rail.

  19. Bolt hold open removed during Pistol Grip conversion?

    Howdy all

    just got home from the sandbox and my new freshly converted S12 was waiting for me. One of the first things I noticed was that the bolt hold open device was no longer present. Is this normal? It looks like the trigger pin now goes very close to where the bolt hold open used to reside. If this is normal, is there a bolt hold open option for conversions?

    I have taken out the posts on the bottom of the floor plate that stick up and shortened the followers a bit and I get 6 rounds to reliably function in my 5 round mags so for me these would be a hell of an option as I have 10 count em 10, 5 round magazines. Hell when I get home from the Sand Box I am going to look into cannablizing two fives into whatever I can make work.

  24. bolt hold open

    Ok of all the "things" I want to do to my Saiga 12 I have decided to look into a method to make the bolt LOCK open after the magazine is empty... this will make the Saiga 12 infinitly more useful than any pistol grip or folding stock. So any one have any ideas?

    On modifing magazines you can mod prebans to fit onto another gun. the catch is it still has to function in the gun it was intended for. Makes me want to look into the possibility to make the bolt lock open on the last round as well.
