  1. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/78897-3-msa-so-far/page__st__60 Mancat, These are the pcs fomr the install. Nathan had gone over them and suggested seating it deeper into the real locking tab, which has been done. As previously stated, the PMag, with the guide feed and directional lips in it, feeds okay, but I am looking at "pick-up " mags... the new GI steel AR mags etc.... and making them work. As for the BG, I am looking at a variation, which i have been documenting, as well as the adjustment to the directional feed lips "locking tabs" that contact the round a
  2. TY Nathan, and also skullface. I made my mind up to build a CAD drawing of sorts to start to show and talk about the mod/s rather than have to keep confusing people with my Noob descriptions of parts of the Trunnion that have names but they seem to have been left off any documents I can find, so.... I shall name them and number them and then when those who are more enlightened than myself correct the errors I can change to suit. The building up of the inner facing Bolt locking tabs... well that has been a thought for a while of mine as no-one seemed to have said anything about doing it
  3. Starting to think this is a one of, as the BG when modded (I trimmed it to fit various ways, it is just to little (height wise) to late.... the Adapter locks in just fine, and flush.... even made it fit tighter at the rear catch..... it just does not aloow the mags to come up far enough for them to get close to being redirected into the chamber, which is when I saw that they were running on the face of the bolt locking faces, so.. I put in the plastic (to test) and they allow the round to be pushed up and into the chamber... I have two options, build up a BG that actually starts at the fro
  4. I am sorry to not have been clear.... I have the Adapter installed, milling done... and was going to put i the BG but that would mean cutting the front of the AR mags to suit..... I shall not do that as that means that they are changed... The mags i have , unaltered, feed to the point each side and below the throat of the chamber... Pics, yes, I can do that.... All mags are new I have worked out the solution so i do not have to cut the AR mags... just need to know if TIG shall work.... the locking "nubs" are those that allow the bolt to lock , but they also actually ass
  5. Well I have sat, thought and found my focus drawing back to the reality of my initial desire. Saiga .223 with AR mag adapter Milled to have insert fitting flush to bottom of receiver, as required. What I wanted, to be able to pick up any AR mag, not one made for the Saiga as a post fix... Tapco and PMag types... have been modified somewhat, to allow them to work (the Tapco being slightly thicker in all exterior dimensions) in the AR Adapter system without effecting the STD AR fit. I set out to use a bullet guide.... nice, but I am not about to find any converted face cut mags i
  6. UMMS... Not quite, but TY for the congrats Vlad I am trying to show that the process is not just a simple one and that ppl can find all sorts of issues as they go about the "gutting" lol... I like science and tech so the basics were that i try to at least show what is what, someone may have a bucket full of cheap mags AR style, and I am allowing them to see what fitted and what did not... or was tight... Then from my own issues they can make a choice, not just jump in....., no offense meant btw, your gear updates have been worth my effort to compile my humble thoughts and efforts B
  7. Updated, Went and got myself a TAPCO 30 and a PMAG standard Fitting PMAG Well that was easy, fed into the chamber like a charm, no BR... yes, everyone said it would, it does. Fitting TAPCO Now this is interesting, it is wider and deeper than the PMAG, in fact, it is tight all round, then I see the issues I can resolve to make it slide in and out with ease. Each coner of the Adapter is actually "outset" from the inner mag well dimensions.... Not by much, but the TAPCO is well fatter in the hole..... and is marked on each corner with the line from the drilling line. T
  8. To those who are looking to fit this adapter, I read all the older articles, and studied all the comments etc, good and bad. Well the only way to say something is good or bad is to put your money down and find out. 1) Here is what I did, I found a Journeyman machinist , not just a guy with some machinery and some skills, or not. Now before I get flamed out the window for the last comment, I said as I did to show I was thinking of the SHTF scenario should I screw up the machining. I am sure, and know many fine people with skills and tools to do this work, I just did
  9. Thank you Nathan, Got to admit, after all the "hard linedpress" you were having for so long, I can confirm I got my order in quick time, it was as I felt it should be, and I feel that "tweeking" it to suit after milling may be in order. I shall install dinzzag's BG, I ordered the kit for my round trunion. In the mean time I shall also look at what spec variations there are in different mags I come across, see if I can find some that fit up higher (doubtful but shall look anyway). When this is all tuned up I am going to be a happy camper, as I think your efforts and product are
  10. Thank you for the prompt reply Nathan, I may have been somewhat less than accurate in my description, I shall rectify that now The adapter, of which I am thrilled with BTW, is sitting flush, pics show it about 2mm out as I was pulling and pushing to get pics. rear "landing against locking tab body could use a tweek but ATM it is tight and locked in fully and flush as best it can with bottom of body. The BG, yes, already ordered and is to be put in this week I think. Pics follow , sorry to all for the sad lack of pic taking at the level I have seen from others, I shall get a
  11. Nathan, I have a few questions, btw hello forum. Rifle: Saiga .223/5.56 B.F.I Steel Mag Purchased your adapter, and took it to my Journeyman machinist Gunsmith, who looked at me like I had just spat in his chew. He did the milling, for the Adapter to lock in he only had to go in .88/.89 and told me he had to remove some either side of the front lockin as well. Now from all I have heard and seen, the top of the AR mag should sit flush up against the bottom of the bolt riding rails, mine is at least 1/8 to 3/16th lower, the Adapter is fully inserted and flush, and the mag is lo
