  1. Great info, I understand now, thanks!
  2. Thanks! Will the Saiga factory mag still work with the bullet guide installed?
  3. As I understand it, if I want to run Tapco Galil mags in my Saiga .223, I need to install a bullet guide. Since the Galil mags fit and lock fine, I'm wondering what is the physical difference in them and stock Saiga mags that do not require a guide?
  4. I don't really want the 1", but the 3/4's are hard to find. I need nothing sophisticated, I might even just buy some 3/4" nylon strap and the plastic adjusters.
  5. I don't seem to be able to find much available in the way of a 3/4 inch sling for my Saiga. The one I found was $90, and that ain't happening! Am I simply not looking hard enough, or should I perhaps change out the stock swivels for 1" ones?
  6. This compliance stuff is confusing to me. If I understand it correctly, to be in compliance with 922r, the first thing you need to do is determine the total number of parts in the rifle in question, as no more than 20 can be made outside the USA. Is there an easy way of determining the total number of parts in a stock Saiga .223 short of dissassembling the gun?
  7. Last August I bought a Saiga .223 with the intention of converting it to a typical AK style. Even started to acquire some parts to do so, a Tapco G2 trigger kit. In all honesty however, I'm pretty fond of it in the Sporter style. I really didn't expect that! The 10 round mag is sufficient for my needs for the most part, plus I have a couple AR's and a Mini, so it's not like I "need" to convert it for use in "serious social interactions". Plus I believe there are at least two places making 30 round mags to fit the unaltered gun if I wanted to up the capacity. Haven't really checked
  8. Well according to the Leapers site, I'm missing the block space and shim spacers for this unit. I suppose I could get them from Leapers, but I think I should maybe do a little more research as to just how suitable this particular unit is for my gun. I hate to drop $80 on the MNT-HGSG39 mentioned, especially considering I don't have anything in this one. On the other hand, a handguard retainer(Brownells) alone takes ups 1/2 the price of the MNT-HGSG39. I'm going to have to ponder this some........if I decide to part with it, I'll keep you in mind wpfl!
  9. I am trying to gather the parts to convert my Saiga as I come across them. I ran across this UTG fore end/rail gizmo, but I don't know much about it. A friend had it in his "stuff" and he gave it to me. Trouble is I don't know if it will fit the Saiga, I don't know if its a particulary good fore end or a piece of junk, and I don't know how easy or difficult the installation is. Can ya help a guy out?
  10. I appreciate the info, folks, Tapco G2 Double Hook is ordered, and, hopefully, soon on the way! I hate having to acquire parts "piecemeal", but thats what the budget dictates right now, so piecemeal it is!
  11. When I looked on various websites for the Tapco G2 trigger, one seller noted that the double hook was not compatible with the Saiga platform, but his description of the single hook did not say that. Is that simply because of the double hook needing the receiver slot cut or having to be filed to fit?
  12. I bought a Saiga .223 last Friday and want to begin gathering the necessary parts to do a conversion. I was looking at the Tapco G2 trigger group, but I am confused as to whether I need the single hook unit or the double hook?
