  1. It occurs to me, though, that if the FBI does try to do anything with these compounds, it will be a repeat of the Branch Davidian debacle. Shoddy preliminary work+gross ineptitude+media circus= lots of finger-pointing and cover ups.

I'm all for the camps being raided and shut down, but slave-women and brainwashed children dying in a fire is a bit much...

well, we could minimize the casualties that matter with something called DRONE attack.

No firefight. No reason to broadcast it on television. And the best part: THE US can legally do that to these "americans"

The hell they are but.. you get my point.

  2. I love Mosins. And dont worry, even though it was made in '39, it likely saw action in WW2.

Its in excellent condition bore-wise, but you're likely right. It has had some stock repair.

A relative and friend both asked me about my plans with the gun. I doubt I will ever sell it. Im not into selling guns. But I won't destroy it either... you know... different stocks, fancy permanent mods...I might engrave something personal into the stock and seal it with the finish, but I'm still not sure about that either.

  3. Late last night, (well, Friday night) I was wondering how I could reward myself for finishing my first college class(my university goes by 1 class per month. It keeps the reports and stuff to a minimum)..

anywho, alone, in my bed, when suddenly...

A year old desire popped up. And, since I'd had a little over 200, I figured I'd get me a mosin...

And Now my wallet is empty. Apparently they are becoming a little rarer.. either that or not even the mosins are safe from the gun grab fear.

205 OTD (woulda been 219, but 205 was all i had to my name lol) for a 1939 Tula Arsenal Round Receiver. HAD to have it. one of my weaker moments im sure. I have the feeling that aside from being a pre-war rifle, it has little historical value. Still, I am not about to butcher it.

no less than 30 minutes after getting it i was working on cleaning it up. a few hours, wd40, a fabric steamer, and sand paper, and the stock is prepped for staining and the parts are clean of cosmoline and gunk.

I still need to lubricate the moving parts, polish the bore and friction spaces. already adjusted the firing pin to the right protrusion.

if everything goes well, i should be able to pick up some minwax and tru oil to finish the stock. i was thinking hunter green (google minwax hunter green, theres a rifle that shows up, so i know kinda what im looking at)

ill see how it turns out. Yes, there will be pictures for those interested.

ill also try to borrow my dad's spotter scope and try my luck with the irons. I hope they're somewhat on paper. what i want to do is get a brass stacker mount and scope to match, something with a decent amount of magnification. This might be a little difficult, Im trying to get an amd65 next month and its gonna be hard to feed two guns. oh well, i guess no mojo sight for the ak.

  4. I'm wanting to replace the surplus PG's on the AMD with something more comfortable and appealing. I think I want a Hogue PG for the rear grip and a tapco intrafuse ak grip -not the SAW grip-

My problem is, i am not sure whether the two companies have matching color schemes for what they say is "OD green".

And that is what i want to do. i dont think tapco has but the one type of green, but Hogue has od and guille green. Has anyone seen or have any of these color grips? I just want to make sure they both look green and not off color brown.

  5. I had an AMD65 in years past. great little weapon, i found it loud but accurate for what it is. easy to carry, quick to deploy in cramp environment etc. I prefer to be able to shoulder the weapon and fire for more accuracy. still all in all its a fun weapon. never had an issue with mine. stay in touch and let us know what happens.

i will. ill be having more than one shooter "training" on the platform, so ill make sure i get some comments from them as well.bear in mind, they won't have much gun knowledge. haha

  6. i do hope there is nothing wrong with me asking for some people to review and possibly sign this petition. I am trying to get our voice out of the threads and into the light of the government eyes. there needs to be actual concern for this issue. not just talking about it.

    http://wh.gov/9SIR

also, if you could share with other social circles, i would appreciate. this needs 150 signatures before it actually goes public on their site, much like the rest of the petitions

  7. Hey community,

not too long ago i got to handle a CZ527 in 7.62 x 39 at a local store. small rifle, very nice. but the teeny tiny mag concerned me. Sure, its a bolt action gun, but with the Mossberg MVP around, i was wondering if this was a rifle worth the prospect of modding [or modding mags] to make them work in this gun. i have the feeling that double stack mags might not work, but perhaps the 10 rounder ak mags from the AWB days?

Or should i just wait until someone wises up and makes a 7.62 x 39 version of the MVP?

  8. "Cost to me? $0"

The next time you are speeding down a mountain pass dodging trees or racing your motorbike without a care in the world for cost of injuries....remember this little piece of good ol' American common sense....NOTHING IS FREE. It is a pretty simple concept that seems to evade children and liberals. Good day....

    ill quote this

see, if healthcare was just GIVEN to us, we'd expect that. Americans (or what americans should be) don't expect to be given these things. make your own way.

what makes the system fail, even if its working properly, is a bunch of freeloaders. that's whats happening right now. ive seen those mythical welfare lines with my own eyes. ive talked with people who say they dont work because the govt pays them not to work(i couldnt hate on them in their faces, they are pretty damn smart in their own light)

But, you need more makers than takers. Life isn't fair. I also believe it isn't free. There have been many successful people come out of poverty. Its the american dream, or so they say. So, time to screw that over right? No. We do not need or want to be like the rest of the world. Should insurance cost a bit less? sure. Do i want government regulating it so that the natural selection process is phased out? nope.

and to the gentleman who said he doesn't give a shit about the poor child who cant afford healthcare: thumbs up sir.

  9. im actually leaning towards an ak variant instead of the saiga. I've managed to get a relative in on the idea, and, piggybacking on the political and economic questionability of the future, will have some earlier funding and a slightly higher budget to go after say, an AMD and do ti the way i want. Ergonomics aren't a problem, I already like it and know what needs changing.

Unless anyone has heard of the darn thing shortstroking like one person tried to tell me. I searched the heck out of the rifle on the site and found nothing but rainbows and daisies

  10. that depends on a number of factors but sure. let me know how well clubbing someone over the head with an Ar15 goes. the point is I bought it because it can take the punishment when it needs to.

its doable. But i dont fancy Ar15's. civilian clones of the sr25, sure. but id rather use the barrel as a weapon on those.

[editing out me saying that saigas are better]

EDIT: you know, its those great moments where you're thinking about what exactly you're putting down, and you realize something. The trigger on a vepr is already forward. putting that adaptor on makes things a whole lot easier. although, i heard that the front handguard is difficult to change. Im also now concerned about 922r, seeing as you arent changing the trigger. for the record ive hopped off the .308 train. would much rather play with cheap ammo.

What are your plans with your gun? Im going to look into how you turn these things into something mean but, im curious.

I love the round, its versatile and comes in a ton of options, I know its not the cheapest of rounds but with reloading prices can come down a bit.

The only big change I am considering is swapping the stock, I haven't decided yet. the main reason is I may be taking my super with me on a new job which will subject it to some more environmental factors. wood is nice and although I know it can take a beating fiberglass might be a better choice. I don't think I would change the overall look of the rifle. I think its laid out just about right so just cloning it in fiberglass, maybe slim the profile of the foregrip a tad. the trigger group is a tad too long of a pull so I would like to do something about that at some point as well.

i saw a 762x 39 with stock furniture and a high cap mag. now, i wish i could figure out how to do that 922r compliant. it was beautiful. then again, i will more than likely go for a thumbhole stock for a saiga. i just have better availability on what im looking for with that. But i do think a vepr looks sexy if you just change the mag

  12. You know, this is just from the perspective of one lone man, but You guys are an influential forum on the internet, and Its my bet that if you petitioned the importers such as RAA and EAA to import a bunch more of saigas(or at least have them inquire about doing so) then the factory wouldnt mind paying their workers a bit more in return for the huge orders that would be processed.

I don't like milled receivers. SOrry VEPRs, but rivets were what kalashnikov chose rivets, and effectively made milling obsolete.

Come on, make your voice heard, get some noise going to the importers to import the saiga.

vepr's are not milled. they are merely a thicker receiver stamped in a similar process. also many sections are welded together. even the AK-47's have welds holding them together.

Ah. Still, i find the extra pound not worth it. Ive also seen the difference between both receivers' rear sections. Its an ak100 series rifle vs the rpk. And the ace stock the vepr has is not pretty. If i wanted a target rifle, a pretty one, id get a vepr.

  13. Hello,

I'm new but, I found something long ago that you gents might be interested in. I really am, because im trying to figure out how to do it.

agoogle search for "hk mags in saiga 308" pulls up most of what ive found, but here isan image :

If anyone knows how this could be done, I'm all ears. I have 10 hk mags collecting dust for a gun i never wound up buying
