  1. How can a private company legally spy on you?  Isn't that the same as a peeping tom looking in through your windows?  Last I checked, they arrested people for that.

They can legally do it if you agree to it - which is what is in all that tiny writing, buried deep in a bunch of legalese.  Just like Facebook, Reddit, Pintrist, etc. do.  If you don't want their services, you can opt out of all those.  The TV data collection is easy to opt out of, you just have to know to do it.  Or just don't buy a smart TV.

  2. With some trigger work and practice, you can still get a few hundred rounds a minute.Or waste 300 on an ugly as bump fire stock

I never bought the slide fire/bumpski stock, but this video is the entire reason I bought my S-12.  The smile on his face after dumping that drum just screams "buy this gun!"  So I did, and every time I do a mag or drum dump, I get that same smile.

Vepr .308 -  but I want to find find a svd style break. I like the one from Black Horse Arsenal but its a pre order item ATM and have seen some bad reviews for BHA anyone got some leads on something along them lines?

Not sure this is quite what you're looking for, but it's available and cheaper than BHA - I got one for my V-54, but haven't installed it yet.

  4. I'm almost embarrassed to post here, as I am a casual mechanic, and don't even know if this is applicable, but it might be...

I had mushy brakes a while back, changed out all the obvious things, was dreading changing out the master cylinder, then found the problem was the vacuum hose had gotten mushy from heat, and everytime I mashed the brakes, the hose would collapse.

$0.90 later, 10 minutes to change the hose, and my brakes were great.  Please be gentle on any mocking...I don't even know if the vacuum system comes into play in your situation, but if so, might be something to look at.

  5. Years ago there was a graphic artist that had some sample pics up on his site.  Apparently, there was a really cool dragon that excited the goth crowd, and thousands of people were linking to it for their Myspace background, killing his bandwidth allotment.  He kept the filename while changing the picture to the classic "goatse" (google at your own risk).

Suddenly thousands of kids suddenly had pictures of a nasty distended anus plastered all over their social page.

  6. That looks awesome. Does anyone know if someone makes a dragunov stock for the square back Vepr? I googled it and all I see are the ones for UNconverted Saigas, Mak90s that have a slight angle, and the Vepr with slant cut. Am I missing something somewhere or has my google-fu been much defeated?

I threw the Maadi/Mak-90 one http://tinyurl.com/k7utp8bonto my Vepr - it doesn't have the greatest fit, as the square-back rifle doesn't seem to really be 90 degrees square (or maybe it's the stock?).  You pretty much have to choose to have the stock tight to the vertical portion by the tang, and have a gap by the trigger, or tight to the horizontal and aligned with the trigger, but have a gap by the tang.

I snugged the stock against the trigger.  The stock attaches at 2 points - the gripscrew and the tang.  This allows the stock to wiggle and creak a bit.  All that said, I'd probably get it again, but search around, it can be found cheaper than their website (I think WalMart carries it online...the foregrip that doesn't fit, though there is the potential for some dremeling...)

Pictured are the rifle and a close up of the gap.

  7. I'm working up to that as cheap as I can...I bought one of the "firewood stock" square-backs a while ago.  Put on an ATI Dragunov stock I had sitting around, drilled out some slots in the forestock, and purchased the tabuk/Dragunov flash-hider (haven't installed that yet).

I do plan on getting one of the POSP scopes, and I have the trigger conversion so that I can be all 922r happy.  20 round mags on order.  I figure at that time, I'll be as close to Dragunov as I can.

Total cost with scope, mags, etc. will be close to $1200-1300.

Even though the 7.62x54r surplus is kinda scarce now, I think that supply will catch back up and it will be plentiful/cheap again.  If it does dry up, the demand from all of the Mosinites should stimulate domestic production and bring quality prices down.

  8. I'm already thinking this is a stupid question/comment, but I'll throw it out anyway...

In another thread on the DS Mag topic (and maybe way back in this one) there is a link to the patent application.  Skimming through it, there's a lot of reference to rimmed cartridges, and the occasional specific reference to shotgun shells.

So here's my question up for ridicule...Is it just a coincidence that at the same time the double-to-single stack 20rnd box magazine for the S-12 is forthcoming, SG Ammo is releasing a double-to-single stack 20rnd box magazine for the Vepr 7.62x54r?

It would certainly be interesting if Mike is licensing his patent out for other calibers.

  9. Greetings all,

I'm looking to get some glass for my Vepr 7.62x54r, and have narrowed it down to 3 of the POSP options. I'd like some advice on pros/cons of the different ones.

    3-9x42V from Eastwave, $339: http://www.eastwavescope.com/index.php? ... 68&lang=en

    4-8x42VD from Eastwave, $299: http://www.eastwavescope.com/index.php? ... 69&lang=en

Is the zoom versatility between the 2 Eastwave options worth $40? If so, is there any significant difference between the two 3-9x42 options (other than the $9)?

Any other options I should consider, or other vendors to look at? I'm specifically looking for the zoom capability and the large exit lens, and I want to stick with the side rail mount.

  10. So, as soon as you fire the last round, you quickly pull the trigger again at just the right moment. I'm not sure that's very useable

In that situation, not at all... it's just a BHO method, not LRBHO.

Some ranges require that magazines are removed and the bolt locked open when the range is cold. If your gun doesn't have an installed BHO you could shove something in the breach or you could try this method. (Or try the other mentioned options like notching your safety.)
