  1. Hey guys,

I'm not sure where the disconnect is/was. We've been rather swamped as of late so we have not been as active on the forums, but that will change going forward. Once again we guarantee all products 100%. If your not happy then we're not happy. If anyone has had any issues let me know and I assure you I will make it right! Thanks

  2. Well my Uinta mag doesn't work at all with South African. Bullet tips lodging against the chamber face below the opening. Hand cycles just fine but it's a single shot at the range.

    SpetsnazGRU - Posted 07 February 2011 - 03:16 PM

.. Only shot about 60 rounds, using one of the mags.. I was initially having feeding problems. The bolt was hitting one of the sides of the mag and failing to grab the next round. I had to manually cycle the action, pushing the bolt down with a bit of force, in order to chamber a round and then pushing the bolt closed. By the second mag-full, things did become smooth and I had no more failures, even when shooting one mag-full in rapid succession. The bolt simply dug a little hole in the plastic for itself.

I got my magazines (3 pack) Tuesday. I ran each magazine through three cycles (20 dummy rounds cycled manually, three times per magazines).

They fed perfectly. I loaded the three magazines (20 rounds each), and left them loaded until I could get to the range. On Saturday, I fired each loaded magazine at the range until empty, then reloaded and repeated (a total of 40 rounds per magazine).

    All three magazines functioned perfectly.

    between_the_lines:

That's 3 reports in. 5 magazines tested so far, with 2 fail to function out of the box - that's 40%. Not good.

I am rethinking the SGM(Surefire) mags.

Here is something I found on the web regarding the Surefire that sounds a lot like SpetsnazGRU's problem

Somone claims to be quoting an email exchange with surefire:

    Hi TNX,

The only problem we have had with this mag revolves around the .308's bolt alignment... If the bolt is ripping the left side of the feed lips off than the bolt is out of alignment and Russian American Armory will have it fixed for you.]]

Of course the fact remain: the Saiga factory mags always work. Whatever variances there may be in the bolt base alignment, the factory mag can handle it. If SGM made their mag feedlips to factory specs they would work.

Even so, I would be interested to know if SpetsnazGRU got the same result with his other 2 Uinta mags.

    Gnugung,

I understand your skeptical, Honestly I see no reason why you shouldn't be. We are a new company, and as such you have to earn your reputation in this business. IM me your address + Contact Infromation and let me put my money where my mouth is. I promise to not disappoint! :smoke:

  4. Got my floorplates, followers and springs and everything fits the old FBMG mags I have perfectly. Follower is tight but so was the factory one, the spring feels great.

Looking forward to what else you guys come up with.

Rob, thanks for the post. I have 8 empty FBMG's and was wondering how well the Uinta kit would fit.

The rebuild kit is what you need, will work great! can be found Here

  5. I'm an NYer with two Saiga rifles so far, been looking at a .223 or .308 next, do you think a 10 round only version might be possible in the future for us poor fools in lame states? Will you be looking at making mags for the other chamberings like 5.45, .223 and 7.62?

    Big Boss,

We try to keep things under wraps at Uinta, what I can confirm is that we are actively seeking solutions for everyone, Please stay tuned here for any upcomming product announcements that may be in the works

    Thanks again for the support!

  6. Gnugung: OK, good luck with that. It's not that people can't get a hold of you, it's that in order to take seriously a company's warranty on their product, most people expect the company to provide a street address and phone number.

We will stand behind every product 100%. We are in the process of switching locations right now, and once the move is complete we will update everything on our site. I would prefer to not send people to an empty location in the interim. I am kind of perplexed why my IM was not responded to by you gnugung, please feel free to respond and I will call you directly, if that is not to your liking I am not sure I can help you at this time.

Gnugung: You would need to know all of that to send a mag back to them.

All orders come with all information to get anything resolved in the event that there is a problem. Order with confidence gents!

ETA: Here is the direct line to Kelly in our customer care department just in case anyone needs it:

  7. I just traded this rifle for a nice quantity of 1oz silver coins

    ReasorsSept053.jpg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVkz4aXIiDg

The rifle was a tad finicky with low powered ammo and demanded a heavy diet of 308 Winchester commercial pressure ammo to run right. I initially thought it had something to do with the barrel being cut down but apparently the gas block was ever so slightly stretched during the pressing on and off several times and has a tiny bit of blow by. This could easily be fixed but the fellow that I traded it to bought it because it was quite accurate for an AK and he doesn't want to change anything beyond sticking a low siderail mount and a scope on it.I resused the original trigger guard tucked behind the factory mag release and used a reamed RPK handguard retainer with shims to account for the taper of the S308 barrel profile and a standard drift cut across the top of the barrel to affix the RPK handguard retainer. It was turned and threaded to 14x1LH at the muzzle and the FSB reamed to the barrel diameter and the pin holes redrilled on a milling machine for 1/8in pin stock. I used a modified AK74 handguard retainer. a laminated RPK forend and an old black banded laminated buttstock. I sanded the front hump off of the RPK forend and affixed a sling swivel stuck for use with a Harris Bipod. This rifle was hoveing between 1.20-1.98in with commercial ammo and a hair over 2in with port milsurp.

I have begun a new project with yet another long barreled S308 but I have not determined if I will cut it down as much this time because I fancy the idea of using an Eotech with the XR308 reticle which is calibrated for LC M2 ball out of a long M240G barrel and any velocity loss might negatively affect the BDC matching between the rifle and the optic.

    Saiga308001.jpg

The brown uppper handguard is temporary and will be replaced with a new matching US unit that Dinzag had laying around in a day or two.

    Modified RSA Adjustable Trigger

    Modified AK74 Gas Tube

Modified K-Var AK100 Forend and std buttstock

Custom hard rubber grip(cut and carved by me)

    Dinzag bolt on handguard retainer

    Bulgarian AK74 trigger guard

    US gas piston

    Texas AK Triggers Retainer Plate

This rifle is 5/8x24 under the FSB and will be cut back past the taper, recrowned and threaded for use with an

SEI AR10 Muzzle Brake(same port design as their USCG M14 Compensator)

SOG AR10 4 prong Flash Hider

I am also seriously contemplating the Texas Weapons Sytems Gen 2 mount as shown on TowerofPower93's rifle shown here

    IMG_0208.jpg

He had an issue with the bolt carrier beating the snot out of the rear retainer/latch but

if that has been redesigned and fixed to his satisfaction then that is the setup destined for my latest Saiga 308

This will make the 3rd Saiga 308 that I have converted and the 4th Saiga 308 I have owned(got talked out of a 16in by a buddy before I got to convert it).

    Nice looking mags! :smoke:

  8. Uinta Industries gives no physical street address nor phone number at its website, that I could see. And I got no more info from a Google search. I couldn't even tell what state they are in. There is the Uinta mountain range (named after the Ute Indians) in NE Utah near Wyoming. But that doesn't prove anything - maybe the owner just liked the name.

Probably when you buy some magazines they put this info on the invoice, shipping document, warranty or whatever. Nevertheless why don't they put it on their website? Seems unusual.

Valid point, no need to worry. We pushed ourselves for a pre shot launch, and are in the process of moving to a new facility. We are currently in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Our toll free number and new address are in the works and will be posted on our site shortly, currently the best way to get a hold of us is through email. service@uintaindustries.com, on a side note most emails have been answered within min of receipt.

  9. 3-Pack-Product-609x373.jpg

Thought I would stop by to send an update. We have been running a bit ragged trying to get all the orders out so let me first of all say, Thank you! We have gotten quite a few emailed reviews and everyone really likes the u308. We are going to be updating our Site very shortly with some of these user reviews. Most of our questions still revolve around our "Introductory Price" as for now we are not releasing the day which our pricing will adjust, but it is in the forseeable future :smoke:

  10. Why's the shipping so expensive? For example shipping on a complete mag is 5.95 which is reasonable. You add a single mag base plate and it goes to 10.95. Add a rebuild kit and it goes to 15.85. Add a follower and you are at $20.80 for shipping. Is there something wrong with shipping calculator for online purchases?

Sorry about the confusion here. I updated some shipping costs on the small parts, the problem should be resolved for this type of an order.

  11. I hear there are some pigs in Nevada...

I killed some pigs down in Fla. a few weeks back with my S-308. That mother has taken down everything I've shot with it,pigs, deer

and a wild ass dog up in the Blueridge mountains. I have a rail on top i got from Carolina Shooters and mounted a Vortex red dot on it.

The red dot has a 2X adapter with it and that's what I have on it most of the time. Money well spent.

Need some pics of the gun and the kills :)

  12. I asked about 10 or 15 rounders in your 1st set of post.. I didn't see anything come back..

I shoot ALOT in NJ which has a max of 15 rounds..

    So whats up???? :cryss:

We try to keep things rather close to the chest! let's just say we are actively seeking a solution for all our Customers!

  13. Well, I got mine today.

EXACTLY like the FBMG mags of course..... and in my experience thats a good thing. Love the floor plates, and I will be buying them and spring guides for my other mags.

Uinta Industries: There was one thing I mentioned when FBMG was producing them.

In order to limit wobble, change the locking tab angle like so:

    UintaMag2.jpg

I made a metal clip for one of my old mags that wrapped around the sides of the tab, and added more to the locking surface and it mad the mag wobble way less. The only thing was that i had to drill a small hole in the tab, and it weakened the tab enough that eventually broke off.

It was good while it lasted though.

    Just a suggestion.

Edit for clarity: As with any product we try to apply all user feedback, the current design is very reliable and dependable. We guarantee all Uinta Products 100%, let us know if you have any issues and they will be resolved.

  14. I got mine SPECIFICALLY for wild hog hunting. I used a saiga 7.62 last year and it worked great, had a good clean shot and the bastard still ran for a few seconds. I think the .308 will take it down a lot better.

Is there mag restrictions on capacity in TX? Might have to come down and do a promo hunt :)

  15. Ordered a 3-pack on Wednesday night. Have not gotten a shipping notice yet. Looking forward to getting them.

You should have gotten your tracking info last night. They went out Thursday morning. I will shoot you another email with your tracking number. Did anyone else have problems with not receiving your tracking information?
