My saiga for the most part cycles the cheap walmart Wiinchester loads with a couple stove pipes here and there. So tonight I got some 320 sand paper and hit the rails, the rail gides on the BCG and the bottom of the BCG that makes contact with the trigger, and the trigger face and the tail of the bolt and the bolt seat in the BCG. I have to say just that little bit made a big difference in the action. I cant wait to shoot it and see if it cycles better. Think I might get me a glass bolt for her.

Well some goodies showed up today. got some welding do today too
got to finish welding the gaurd on and fill in some holes, I wanted to test it out first before I weld it up and not like it and have to do a ton of cutting. I cut off the safety stop off and welded it to the receiver
drilled and tap holes and mount the stock
All back together.
I still need a rail setup, Thinking either Chaos or UTG and a Auto plug and a flash hider. But I'm sure I'll find more for it. I want another one now too. Plus my buddie is itching to paint it, Damn Auto painters....

Made an extention for my charging handle today.
Was going out to weld some thing on Saigie and I left my Argon bottle on for my tig welded.
So no welding for me for awhile.

Thanks I try to do good work. A good friend of mine is a tool and die maker I'm goona see if he can make copies of the bolt and BCG. I might make my own puck out of 316 stainless.

Think I might build a weld on receiver block, not sure if I like the button head bolts on the side.

Tonight I made the trigger gaurd and the grip block for a AR grip.
I got to weld the block to the gaurd yet wanted to see how it looked first. Think I'm going to weld the gaurd to the recevier.
What do you guys think? Looks good... gonna put a hogue grip on her like I have on my AR build I did.

Hello all, New to the site. Have had my saiga 12 for awhile and last night ordered some of the parts to convert it and was wondering is it legal to make some of the parts? I can make the receiver block and the trigger gaurd and grip mount. Save a little money that I can spend on other parts, plus I like building things like that....
Thanks
SHHH! Don't rat me out.
Ho made receiver block*

Ho made trigger guard, safety extension, pistol grip, stock ferrule

Home modified per Moe Zambique method trigger guard. (low cost parts list too.)

Home done safety mod:

*This was way too much work. There is a reciever block and hinge in the WTS section that makes more sense.
Perfectly legal to make your parts-- However, search the forum for other NY specific questions and you will probably end up finding that you can't use that stock adapter, and that you want a Bulgarian plastic thumbhole stock instead.
Nice work...

As long as your Saiga doesn't end up shooting more than once per trigger pull or having a barrel less than 18 inches (or 26 inch overall length), there's nothing you can't legally make for or do to your gun that you want.
Assuming you live in a free state, that is...
Nothing is more satisfying than making custom parts or custom fitting parts to your gun. Buying bolt-on is for the AR crowd... grinding, filing, welding, and milling is what AKs are for!
Good cause I made it all ready... I'll get some pics up tonight.

Well I got the FTE taken care of, now I got a FTF trouble with my SGM 12 mag. Its fire 1 FTF, Fire 2 FTF, Fire 3 FTF, Fire 4 sometime FTF, after that unload at will. Any suggestions Fun. I was thinking I may need a little work on the feed ramp area. I'm I on the right path?
