1. Mine the way it sits with the old style mags on the Salem 6 extention can almost fit 11 rounds. I bet just doing a little bit of filing would get 11 rounds....

I bet that extra space allows you to load on a closed bolt. If you were able to file enough, you would need a little extra in order load..

Was gonna order it til I got to the $13.87 shipping charge for a $20 item. I don't do business with shipping gougers.

Don't move to Alaska...shipping is rediculous

  3. I tried the gas bushing... even that doesnt help sometimes. Its worth it to dissassemble it to replace the spring if you can shoot cheap walmart ammo a little easier

How many rounds are through it? Mine took a little extra (150- 200 rounds) to break in, even with the bushing. Runs like a champ now...

  4. So, if you used two 12 round mags, and two couplers you could make a 20 round mag?

If I did my math right using it would still be cheaper to make an Uber Evil Unlucky 13 round mag than to buy a factory 10 round mag...

Hmm... 13 round mag. That would make a great platform for some "Lucky 13" graphics on the side...

  5. Ya know, I have always wondered something about this silly rule... I have built a few AK's strictly following the rules, but wondered if I even have to.

I think this would apply to those getting a firebird receiver: The receiver is the gun. My AK receivers were made in the USA. The Firebird receivers were made in the USA. Therefore the gun was not imported. The GUN (receiver) was manufactured here...

Then there is the Benelli thing. The M4? shotgun is all made elsewhere. It is refinished here in the USA. GTG apparently. That means I can build a foreign made rifle, here in the USA, refinish it and Boom... No 922r.

To me, it seems 922r does not apply.

Making it permanent with a pin pressed through the stock & tube would realistically be the only safe way to stay on the legal side. Disabling the adjust lever to create a fixed butt stock may or may not fly, depending on what leo decides to check out your weapon.

    Lame...

  7. Hmm... Good points. I got it installed today pretty straight on. Needs some minor fitting to look better though.

I was in the mindset that the downward angle would give a better shoulder and cheek weld while also lowering your sightplane... Maybe I will shim it a few different ways to see how it feels.

  8. I was more concerned with muzzle rise. Their ads claim it reduces muzzle rise. I have read a few of the "tactical chokes" do nothing for muzzle rise.

I am also thinking about a slight downward angle on the stock. The adapter should be on my doorstep by the time I get home. I have already cut my stock to .72 to give me some working room on fitment.

As far as the (mako) fitment on com or milspec, my research shows that it has two tabs on the inside bottom half of the tube so it will give it friction on milspec tubes.. Still think I might get it.

That and hydrodip the whole thing in Kryptek Typhon or Raid. I will probably send it out. Not looking too good on the DIY kits...

  9. There's a company near us that charges us about $150 to have a complete gun done in hydrographic film. Mine is done in snow camo, it contrasts nicely with black accessories. I'm sure if you hunt around your area you can find a company that does this.

Not on an island in Alaska... If I have someone else do it, it gets mailed off...

  10. I'm a bit of a penny pincher myself... Thats why I was looking at DIY..

As far as the stock, It's not so much the recoil, but it claims it reduces muzzle rise, that equals more shots on target faster. The one I was looking at is different than the S12 version. The spring is in the buttstock itself not the buffer tube like the saiga versions. Kinda like a knoxx/blackhawk deal.. You actually use your aluminium commercial or milspec buffer tube with it.
