  1. #9 on everything. Now have a tornado brush, which takes the plastic/lead fowling out quickly. 10 ga bronze brush for the gas block. Military toothbrush everything. Q-tip and pipe cleaner out the tight spots.

Trying CLP this time around though. I may try the Froglube.

  2. I have seen this as well on mine. I'm thinking lead fowling as the chips are soft, like lead slag. Ran a tornado brush down my bore and all sorts of shiny chips came out. The bore then had a beautiful shine. But all of the chips were real soft, again like lead. If it were the chrome, you'd see pits left behind!

Might be a combo of plastic, lead, and carbon all melted together.

The Saiga is a real pig compaired to my other gas shotguns. It loves to hold it's carbon in!

  3. I think I found it! Ejector rubbing on carrier! Ran a milling cutter down the slot with heavier cutting toward the center of the carrier. Slides like glass now between the hammer overtravel and extractor ramp points. Really cut down overall friction when racking the bolt.

Laser was 12" high at 25 compared to the rebatteried reflex. The threads are slightly misaligned as you can see a thin crescent of muzzle at the bottom of the choke and none at the top.

Next range trip I'll try the factory plug first, and then try the auto plug again with the bulk.

  4. Went shooting today.

    The bad:

The reflex sight got turned on when I cased the gun, so dead batteries!

No matter what I did to the auto-plug, it wouldn't eject Federal bulk!

The Polychoke seems to drop zero down about a foot.

The Winchester Mil-spec buckshot is a rather wimpy load.

    The good:

The green laser was visible at 25 meters on the white target board!

The AGP Arms mags fed really good.

Grandpa's old Remington/Peter's magnum loads fed great, even from the hip!

I ran the auto plug against the stop, and it won't get the bulk to work. I backed it out for the slugs/buck/magnums. This is for a factory 4 port gun. Looks like I'll have to port her out. I want to try the factory plug with the bulk to see if it will work. The buck rounds had a few problems with stove pipes, but I may of had the plug out too far.

  5. The FBI sideshot blowup of whitey has him wearing a beard. Both look Turkish or Gypsy. Iranians can go pretty fair/light olive too. Whitey also has an eagle beak Italian nose, so I'd say eastern Roman Empire region.

    Good bet on jihadis!

I'm thinking that this might be a new American jihad group that's still pretty small. They're probably afraid of being stomped out, and aren't taking credit or going for martyrdom yet.

The best thing about improvised bombers is that sooner or later their bombs get them! Gaza has "work accidents" all the time that they like to blame on Israel. Just hope it happens sooner!!!

  6. Totally his port area would be the same as if he had one port drilled 0.166".

That's not too bad considering my Ithaca Model 51 has two ports big enough to easily run a pipe cleaner through, and it's piston is larger diameter than the S12.
