  1. I would try the cheap Federal ammo and see how that functions.

I don't think I have heard of too many people who were successful at achieving reliability with that Winchester target load. From my personal experience and what I have read here it just don't work, so I just don't buy it anymore. I really wanted my Saiga to eat absolutely everything I put in it (probably like you). I guess I ended up settling for everything except that cheap Winchester shat. The Federal sits right next to Winchester at Wally World so it is real easy for me. I just grab the red/black box instead of the white/gray one.

RIO buckshot runs like a champ so I use that a lot too. Doesn't fit in my drums but you probably won't have that problem haha.gif

  2. You might be talking about about that company that rhymes with babelas?

They took my order and items showed in stock, they then emailed me several days later to inform me items were not available and were back ordered. Several weeks later they called and said my order had been cancelled. Lucky for me though the operator informed me they got another shipment in of another product I could buy. This "new" shipment was only going to be $3 dollars more per 20rd box of 223. I also ordered some S&W 15/22 mags that got back ordered, cancelled and offered a generic brand that was $10 per mag more than the S&W. Fockers. That is bait and switch. I told the lady to get bent. That was about a year ago. That was the last time I bought anything from them and it will probably be a long long long time before I place another order.

  3. Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable SEARCHES and SEIZURES, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Keep you hands off my data NSA! You have no right to seize this information. Fact: Snowden is a hero, the NSA, CIA, and FBI are the real traitors to the Constitution.

Don't care if you have nothing to hide or not, this is wrong. When they need to start searching you home in person will you still feel the same? So many people I talk to are willing to join NRA or other organizations to stand up for their 2nd Amendment rights but just blow this one off. If they can trample on number 4 they can trample on number 2 and number 1 etc. Get your mind right and realize this has nothing to do with whether you are doing anything wrong or not. This has to do with control and most definitely provides the means for identifying any potential dissidents. You can be sure that being a member or a contributor to this forum has you on the naughty list already :)

This is so not a good thing for the future USA.

I have one of these cheap red dots I bought at a gun show a few years back sitting in the closet somewhere (edit: Found it). You pay for shipping and it is yours. It won't hold zero for more than a couple shots though...

A few of my friends also purchased similar models. All I can say is just don't. They all seem to be made by the same company ours just had different distributors names and logos. Look exactly like the one you have there. Long and short of it is they may run ok for a bit but eventually problems arise. Only the red works, won't turn on anymore, dials quit working, can't hold zero, etc etc. You will end up disappointing yourself and wishing you would have saved your money.

For good quality low cost red dot I would go with PA as the others have said.

  5. ...

eta: forgot to mention i have the factory service manual in pdf i can give you. if you want it let me know. i will upload it to skydrive and send you a link

09 R6 here. Would like to get my hands on that if you are sharing :)

That sucks and I hope you get it figured out Megaman.

Did you report the problem to the Gas Station where you purchased the fuel? I know it is a long shot but may be worth a try reporting it and seeing if they will pay for repairs. I would be so pissed I probably would stand outside the station with a sign that says "Bad Gas Sold Here!" until they complied.

  6. All of these psychotropic drugs include in the warning label data from research studies. These labels state the drugs may cause violent behavior, hearing voices, suicidal thoughts, etc. I don't think it is a theory, it is fact that these drugs mess up the minds of people who use them.

I'm with Stryker on this one. Any parent who would subject a child's developing mind to chemicals such as this is just sick. The guy in NY wouldn't give his kid a MicBurger and the psychiatrist recommended he lose visitation in custody battle. WTF Over...

  7. I have a lead foot, but I have learned (in the School of Hard Knocks and Sharp blows to the Head) how to avoid those damned tickets.

Never be the fastest thing on the road! I go with the faster traffic, and wait for somebody faster. Then I can follow the bear bait from as far back as I can still see them. Never follow then close enough that when the cop pulls out they will be behind YOU!

I have to be extra carefull since I replaced the old Grang Cherokee with a '99 K2500 Suburban with 7.4L (454). The silly thing will sneak right up to 75 and never get above 2,500 rpm. Genuine 'Cowboy Cadilac' bought it in Austin!

Congrats! I just picked up a 99 K2500 with the 7.4L two weeks ago as well. I sold my 2010 2Dr JK rock crawlin beast because it did not have enough space for all my gear, I didn't do enough rock crawling, and mostly that I was tired of making car payments. I was happy with the 3.8L V6 until getting back into a Chevy. It is definitely the 'Cowboy Cadilac'. Loving it so far.

Also concur on using a 'blocker', let some other fool run cover for you :D As soon as you see them slam on their brakes you know what is up ahead may ruin your day!

  8. Don't worry, Obama is going to fix that map for ya real good... No more blue dot only neighborhoods!

The federal government is getting serious about pushing racial and ethnic diversity into

America’s neighborhoods--and is using big data and big money to achieve its aims.

A new interactive database will help regulators, local housing officials and individuals take

action on a newly proposed regulation that would require agencies to “affirmatively further”

the inclusion of minority residents in white neighborhoods.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/23/team-obama-steps-up-racial-standards-for-neighborhoods/

They are going to force the green dots, blue dots, yellow dots, etc to live together. I wonder when they will start forcing some of the blue dots to live in Detroit to balance out the green dots and improve diversity?

  9. Went to Bass Pro and picked out the new Ruger 22/45 lite with the threaded barrel and rail will be shooting it tomorrow. I will keep you posted. Thanks all for the input

And yes it is Frog Lubed.

I have one of these myself. It is GTG, you will be pleased until you try to clean it! It is a great little gun in spite of all of that.

When you watch the youtube videos (and you will) on how to disassemble the 22/45 and it tells you to hold it upside down, while cradeling it sideways, pulling this lever, releasing the mag, pulling the trigger, and contorting your body in just such a way do it or you will just get pissed off and have to call your neighbor who owns one. Ha ha. Love the gun in every respect except cleaning it :)

  10.

I've yet to fire a semi auto 22 that I could count on. I hear good things about the Mark series though. If I were to own a 22 pistol, it would probably be a revolver.

Try the Walther P22. Best semi-auto I've ever owned, and backed up by a great practical warranty.

Parts wear out - they get replaced.

I have 3 friends with broken p22s. I do not recommend. Pot metal slide and manufaturing inconsistencies make what can be a neat gun a Do Not buy for me. My thoughts are if you want a mosquito or a P22 get an SR22 which is less likely to break. Yes it has a stupid safety, but it is quickly getting a reputation for eating anything you feed it. That's kind of a big deal with this class of gun since many people report problems with ammo choice in the other two.

I have owned the SR22 and agree it is well built. It was too ammo sensitive to cycle reliably though. Ended up selling it and bought a Ruger Mark 22/45. Much better for me and it fires everything I have put through it except the CCI Quiet Ammo. If I pull the trigger it better go bang or it will end up on backpage in no time flat.

  11. Global economic collapse. The ponzi scheme cannot continue forever. US is ~17 trillion in debt. If you have a job and pay taxes your share is ~150K dollars. Each Americans share is ~50K dollars. If I didn't take a paycheck for almost three years and just gave it to my creepy spying ass uncle sam I could pay my share back. That just seems like an awful lot of money unless we debase the currency, which isn't good either. Another concern that could lead to economic collapse is technological unemployment. Japan is testing robotic burger makers. Since most of our job growth in the US is flipping burgers that will be bad. Seems our economy is mostly based on servicing each other anymore. Most of the 330 million Americans are going to be hungry and angry and may start doing things that they wouldn't otherwise. The US is the next Detroit. No police or other emergency services. Thinking wide spread anarchy will ensue and in my mind this would lead to an extended WROL situation (1-2 years?) in the US while we worked things out. You are on our own for defense. Looting, riots, raping, pillaging, murder, genocide, you name it. Marshal law, civil unrest, famine, etc, etc. Once marshal law goes into effect we will have our own little American Spring type deal. During this the rest of the world destabilizes and we become vulnerable to an aggressive nation state such as China. This will lead us into WWIII and then shit gets real. Nuclear bombs have been launched and detonated at various places around the world leaving small tribes of people who were prepared and in the right place to survive and re-populate the earth. At this point we are basically really smart neanderthals.

  12. Charlie Miller is the man. He is known as the Mac Hacker for a reason. Worked for NSA for a while and probably still does as a consultant. If he wanted to hack your car or your boat he would. Any of these technologies that increase the security or usability through computers also increase the complexity of a system and will eventually lead to alternate attack vectors that "experts" had never thought of. These nerds will exploit them because they are 1) creative 2) they have tons of time on their hands (not getting laid) and 3) it is a fun game for them. They are all at DefCon this week talking about how they are going to eff with your shit. As more of these nerds look into the GPS and car thing more flaws in the system will be found. Denying this could become a problem, is actually part of the problem.

    http://www.forbes.com/free_forbes/2010/0412/technology-apple-hackers-charlie-miller.html

If you think you don't need to be worried about hacking in general because you have nothing of value that is a mistake as well in my opinion? Sometimes these nerds do it for the "lulz" as they say. Some try to make money. Some might target you to make a political statement. Similar to those bastards who beheaded that British chap not to long ago just for being affiliated with the armed services. So if you can say that you have no money (or credit), no ties to any type of government or political associations (that includes the NRA), then you still might get hit by pure randomness. While the chances are slim right now, they will increase every day that we become more dependent on the 1's and 0's to run our lives. Cars, boats, refrigerators, they are trying to hook everything up to the Internet.

I seem to recall the Iranians managing to bring down one of our drones a couple of years ago. The government vehemently denies they hacked/spoofed the GPS signal to bring it down. As sad as it is, I think I trust the Iranian government more than I do my own lately. They are letting the Russians and Chinese check it out as we speak. Good times :(

    Dad2142Dad, sirosisofliver, and LuPiN8oR,
Appreciate the recommendations. I find stuff on Amazon but I think all the reviews are lies so I am afraid to spend my hard earned money and find out they are crap or give bad advice. When the weather cools down in AZ for fall I want to try and do some survival scenario stuff up North so I need to get some kind of idea and skills first! I only have one friend who might do this with me so I am probably on my own for practice but that is OK. I would prefer to learn to rely on my skills first.

We teach classes like that up here in Montana if you're interested. The coolest one gives you everything you need. If you make a ball shape with your two hands, that's the size of the pack that you are issued. smile.png Other classes are good for basic stuff like food, water, shelter and first aid. Might be a class near you as well. Research the instructors and business to make sure you aren't being fed a bunch of shit from a mall ninja. Look for a few canopies!

That definitely sounds like it is right up my alley on things I want to do. Do you have any links or other information I could look into it? Money and time away from work will always be the biggest challenges.

I have been trying to learn and get ideas as much for free as I can by watching you tube videos and browsing the Internet. I have started storing some food and water. I have all my backpacking gear and camping gear which I think will come in handy. I am pretty good on guns and ammo too :) I did have to sell my bug-out vehicle recently so I am kinda screwed there. So what I really think my biggest priority now is to actually go out for 3 or 4 days and just try to survive with as little as possible. Learn what I really need and what is just dead weight. Practice making a fire, catching critters with traps, evasion, tracking, and all that stuff. Oh and I need to get back in some kind of shape. A zombie would be chomping on my brains cause I would be winded after a few hundred feet :)

  14. Dad2142Dad, sirosisofliver, and LuPiN8oR,

  15. "What is your worst fear during a SHTF situation?"

Not being there for my 6 year old son. I split time with the ex wife 50/50 so I worry that he will be in her care, as opposed to mine, when it happens. While I am not the most prepared person out there, I think I got her beat and will be his best chance for survival.

No Internet is also a big problem for me. I use the Internet to research anything and everything I become interested in. I get my news, entertainment, and much more from the Internet. I rarely read books anymore so becoming disconnected from all that information will be disastrous. Some of the responses thus far had me thinking about creating a small reference library of the most important things a person trying to survive the Apocalypse might need. Most might not be useful in bug-out mode because of bulk and weight but still worth having if I can stay put for an extended period of time or reading up in the interim.

Anyone care to recommend some specific reference materials for field medicine, drug identification, combat tactics, survival type skills, etc that I might want to acquire for doomsday?
