  1. hellgrün-K, your test guide will be on the way shortly. I'm waiting on hardware shipment.

I was told by one fellow the 7.62x39 flat-cuts didn't need a guide.

He swears his works fine. Can you verify?

    Thanks,

    B

What type of mag was he using? Some vary by a good amount. Possibly if my mags had a slightly taller feed lip, but a big NO for now (even using FMJ).

  2. What did you expect from him?....he thinks the boogy-muslim is hiding under every bed, behind every door.....

Umm, do we include the two "Boogy-Muslims" found hiding in the back of that truck cab in that Miami marina in here somewhere?

I wonder if they were actually hiding under the actual cab bed (or just behind the sleeper curtain) since there wasn't any doors to be found back there.

Irregardless, I don't think they were up to any good. :osama:

Yep, they sure were planning to blow up Miami with all those automobile wiring harnesses (for car stereos), exactly what their shipping document stated they had.

Did the Boogymen scare you? :cryss:

  3. I don't care for the compartment on the SAW grip, but I love the grip itself. It is wide and circular, fills the hand nicely, very comfortable.

I suppose the compartment is just an added bonus to a great PG, perhaps I will find a use for it eventually. A decent pouch has enough room to throw in whatever I need to, small or big.

No PG screw needed, it comes with its' own screw. Saves 4 bucks right there.

I would buy the SAW grip for the same price, even if it came without the compartment trap-door. Did I mention how much I like it?

  4. Also, FYI, the AKM/AK74 gas tubes will fit if you grind them down on the locking lever chamber.

Do not get AK-47, they are too short.

So with your retainers, a different gas tube is not necessary, correct? With the retainers, the upper HG will fit and be secure, and the lower HG will as well, no extra parts needed?

  5. Thanks! Well I have this lil 7.62x39 I'm toying around with some ideas on...

Just put this stock on it today. I'm gonna mill it out a little more so it will clear a 30 rdr but the tanker mags work just fine.

No kidding! It's looking sweet, bud. Something about underfolders and Rom side folders... they look so badass and utilitarian. Who needs comfort? B)

Where would you recommend buying the AK-style handguard set, like yours, preferably with gas tube? Any good deals on those you know of?

  6. The only further refinement I have planned is to replace the G2 with a Red Star Arms two-stage adjustable trigger.

I don't know if you can see it, but it has the Williams peep sight on it. The sight alone improved my groups considerably. I believe that a proper trigger will get this rifle shooting almost as well as my Garand (if not as well).

I'd love to replace the factory fore-end stock with a proper handguard. This thing gets awfully hot, and a handguard would be useful. But I'm not gonna worry about that until I get the groups as tight as those I get with my Garand.

Adjustable trigger, sounds neat. If it's not too expensive, and you like they way it turns out, I will keep it in mind. I think the G2 will suffice, for now anyways.

I read here that venting the handguards almost completely removes heat build-up, even under excessive rapid firing. That is definately the cheap/easy way to go.

  7. I originally thought it was too much for me, but I did it in one night and with only one stop at a hardware store. :P

For the basic parts that you need, figure about $140. I got a couple other things while I was at it, but not necessary.

If you don't have a decent dremel or drill, figure in at least $60. If you do already, you only need some addtional bits and discs, some beeswax, and various screws/bolts.

Besides that, some basic tools (pliers, screwdriver, hammer/mallet) are required.

So, at the worst, you will be down $220-250. You will also have the knowledge and experience if you were to ever do it again. Plus you don't have to be without your rifle for 3 (or more) weeks!

If you want to pay extra for the A++ craftmanship, it is not a bad deal. But from now on I will always say...

    Do it!

  8. 20 mags for $44!?!? WTF?

I just bought 12 mags for $71 from the same website. I hope I got some of those 75-dollar mags in there too!

I can confirm that even if the shipping address is Florida, but the billing address is NY, they will not ship the mags. Billing and shipping address must both be in 'legal' states. But they don't tell you that until the order is shipped...

Where were these being sold that they were commanding that sort of price???

I have checked gun broker, but cant find any FDL mags.

I saw a few regular Bosnian... but they had a lot of time left... and no bids, so who knows...

    :smoke:

Just throw it up on ebay, there are actually a lot of AK/Saiga related things (like S-12 10rnd mags) that get some crazy prices. Hell, I may even bid on it.

  9. Check out the for sale section, and at the top, stickied, is DINZAG's for sale section. He makes a BOLT ON retainer for that... no gunsmithing needed... just install, tighten screws and enjoy!

    :smoke:

Ah, yes, I PM'ed him about that a few minutes after making the thread. The sticky says it is still in progress, unless you know something that I don't?

  10. Fits 7.62x39 Saiga right out of the box, no modifications or bullet guide needed.

If you modifed your mag latch to accept AK mags, this will still fit (it does for mine anyways).

Good condition, some wear on finish.

So if you're looking for a 20 round magazine, make me an offer.

    $27 buys-it-now, +shipping.

Must be sold by tonight, otherwise it goes on ebay.
