  1. SaltPeter has an actual Russian S-12K, which came stock with the pistol grip and folding buttstock. Since he is a LEO, he was able to get it directly from Izhmash in PG configuration.

Pretty sweet, even though I didn't get to fire it.

  2. I've dealt with companies like that before....

You buy one item, it is great. Perfect, makes you want to buy more...

Then you buy more, and they send you good ones, all except for one. You don't know what you want to do, because most of your order is fine, except for that one. So you decide to just keep it all, not worth the hassle.

    <_<

  3. Typical Discovery Channel BS. The only thing they said that was true was the AK sights were not as effective. Also, that was a milled AK, no telling how old, how shot out, or from what country from the video.

Was it just me or did the AK shooter seem... incompetent?

I guess it is true what they say about any peasant picking up an AK and using it. Using it well, that is a different story. ;)

But seriously, that was some nice visuals in the video.

I'm only half-kidding. You have to keep in mind the ammo type being used in either case, shooter experience, as well as the rifle not being zero-ed.

  4. Another 'heads up:' there will be an empty rivet hole inside the trigger guard. If you would like to plug it, I would suggest that you open it up to the same diameter as the 4 left over FCG holes at the rear of the receiver, BEFORE you install the trigger guard: that way, you can use one of the same plastic plugs to fill it, that you will probably be buying to plug the 4 unused FCG holes. A simple, cheap, and easy solution - if you take care of things ahead of time. (If you don't, that little plastic plug will fight you, like a rabid, cornered rat, if you try to jam it in that rivet hole - ask me how I know).

FWIW, you can easily do this afterwards... Just take a small round file or use a drill with a small bit and slowly expand the circle. Doesn't take much. Ask me how I know. ;)
