Oh I'm sure now that it's a domestic round the arf guys (no offense) will get the Calvary called.. I'm not saying something shouldnt be done, It just ruffles my feathers that no one bothers to stir anything up when imported firearms or ammunition are involved. Hopefully the NRA gets involved in this one, I'm sure that their inbox is full on this deal...

I have often pondered about this and came to the conclusion that it would be priceless in the event of a stubborn stuck case. I have bug out rigs for each rifle I own, and if the gun doesn't have a cleaning rod on board, I make sure there is a cleaning kit with one in it. Bore snakes and rope style cleaners are great and I prefer to clean with them, but I look at the cleaning rod as more like a tool. Makes a good rammin stick. I wish my veprs and my shotguns had them. As far as keepin them tight, teflon tape or anti-seize compound should do the trick.

I mainly hope it's an ak to help support our guys in the aftermarket biz so they don't have to go through all of the retooling and what not. It would be nice to share mags, pistol grips, etc

Cobra I have no doubt you know more of the subject than I but my guess on Century would be because they are seeing how the Catamount venture rides out? I honestly don't know.

It will probably not happen, but I think a Zastava made mag fed shotgun with the wood M76 styling or even a Tabuk buttstock.. What would be especially neat is if they incorporated an adjustable gas system like they use on some of their rifles. Sadly, I have heard zilch about Century bringing in ANYTHING new from Zastava since all of their announcements regarding domestic AK production. If Century keeps focusing on domestic production, I really hope someone else picks up the Zastava importation.. Sorry for going off topic.

lol forsaken, that's putting it lightly. No mistaking that lower for anything else

I am very satisfied with mine. The magwell is decent, about on par with the VEPR 12 (the quality of the polymer, not the function of course). Empty pmags sometimes will not drop free but if that bothers you some light sanding would take care of that. I don't have much to report on grouping, but I have not had any failures out of probably 100 rounds. It is very sturdy and well put together. For the price I think they are a steal. I may end up buying another but haven't decided if I want to get an m92 or not. I plan on turning my m85np into an underfolder (after stamp of course)

Are the .308 saigas different than the veprs?

+1. Put a hinge on that bad boy! Ssshhhhh

I have one with a 20" barrel that was converted by Century. It runs well with Circle 10 mags and Tapco mags. However I have a Vepr .223 also and it does not like the Tapco mags. If you are willing to do a little trial and error with a few different types of mags I think you would like the gun. YMMV.. I am and always will be a 7.62x39 man myself, but it's nice to have a couple that shoot a NATO caliber. They are only as reliable as the magazines you put in them.

The ones with the stamped lines on them are the true ak 103 mags and will fetch over 100. The slab side are saiga mags from what I understand and must have the built in bullet guide taken out of them to use in a conventional AK variant

Steel reinforced polymer or steel? Poly Izhmash or phenolic resin will fetch 60 plus from what I have seen. Not a whole lot seperates the Izzy steel mags from other soviet bloc mags tho. I've seen them for 20 bucks on up to 60 for brand new

I've been looking for one of those myself. Don't want to stray this thread off-topic but if you can find them they are going for 700 and Up, 700 is the lowest I have seen them anyway..

Do you have them to fit the 7.62x54r Vepr? It is longer than the .223 firing pin. Thank you

Thankyou for the info. They definately are built like tanks.

I only have an m77 and am curious if any parts interchange. Firing pins appear similar but I don't have a PSL to compare. Also wonder about bolt and bolt carrier. I know of the obvious caliber differences (although I do believe they made a PSL in .308) and understand they aren't identical but if some parts are the same that could save us M77 owners some grief on finding spare parts. Thankyou for any info

Very true.. My ex will also be in Dallas on business for four days (we have a four-year-old son together) so all of this is hitting so close to home for me. I feel like it's still not too late to contain this if the right measures were taken immediately and I mean now. Unfortunately everyone outside of this forum that I have talked to about this just seems to laugh it off or not take it seriously. The bulk of the American people have been coddled for so long that we no longer believe a threat on our own soil is possible. Even when the seed of this virus has been planted in the heart of the nation, it seems as though everyone just hopes it will all be taken care of. I sit here with a heavy heart thinking of the steady decline of spirit and drive this country once had.

I live in Tulsa Oklahoma. Now all you college football guys know that OU-Texas is a big game, always held in Dallas, where thousands of Oklahoma fans travel down for the Game and the Texas State Fair. Then they come back usually the next day. That game is next week I believe. Put it all together and it sounds like this could spread like wildfire. Who woulda thought college football could spread a potential plague?

I would be interested in a multi platform mag for the .223 variants as well. Not to get off topic, but I can not wait for the m77 mags to be ready! On an impulse I paid way to much for an original 20 rounder so anything south of 60 will be awesome. Thankyou csspecs for providing your service, insight and military standard magazines. I hope your business thrives

Great idea Vepr12x for starting the poll! Yes I am familiar with the U.S. made extractors and have purchased one. Looks very well built. As for the firing pins I emailed the seller of the only US made "molot" style that I know of to ask the end to end length. I am thinking all the Vepr rifle firing pins may be the same except for the length, with the part that contacts the hammer being shorter or longer, depending on caliber. Can't find the actual firing pin springs anywhere though.

I agree. Total ghost town. I hope there are enough people that keep the interest going. Sanctions or not, I'm not ready to see Saiga and Vepr go the way of Norinco and Polytech. I don't have very many posts, but I check new content on here probably five times a day, more if I start a thread. I have thirteen ak variants, seven of them from mama Russia. This one isn't coming out of the package ever. Well, maybe when my five year old son graduated high school as a gift..

Well hopefully that comes to fruition. Had I known (hindsights 20/20) I would have bought a double of every Russian rifle I own. I wanted that Vepr for a long time and stockpiled spam cans of 7.62x54 so I would have a heavy hitting battle rifle that would shoot cheap ammo. Now I have that, but I find i baby it more now. I don't buy guns to baby them!!

I have been looking high and low for a spare firing pin for my 23" 7.62x54r Vepr. Since the sanctions were out into place I realized I was not prepared with enough spare parts to give me peace of mind. Finally my curiosity got the best of me so I took my firing pin out and compared it closely to the one in my .223 Vepr. Everything looks identical except for the end that the hammer comes into contact with. The bigboy caliber is about 1/32" longer. I'm wondering if all Vepr pins start out the same length and then taken down specific to whatever rifle it is going in. If that is the case, I wonder if this is something that someone with more machining skills than I have could make some money doing. I certainly would buy a couple extra for both calibers. What do you guys think?
first 7N6, now M855 proposed

Darth, I may have come across as blaming the NRA although that was not my intention. I was simply stating the fact that in the past any import restrictions written into law (the barrel ban, 7n6 etc) were not met with much backlash due to the low amount of people it affects. I wasn't trying to say that is the NRA's responsibility, it is all of ours. The NRA without a doubt is a priceless asset to us gun owners and Im scared to think where we would be without them. The point of my post was just to say that since an extremely popular cartridge is being attacked and my hope is that more people will come to rise in trying to get this some attention.
