  1. Second picture. Theres a impact mark right where chamber notch is. See it? Thats copper, took my finger wiped it away.
  2. I dont think it has lacquer coating. Its the black tula steel amo from wallmart
  3. Hi all, My Saiga x39 has had a rough beginning. I had the CSS bullet guide put in backwards by some wanabe "AK smith". So we had to modify it by shaving it down and sanding. Today, ive had no FTE or jams. I looked inside the area of the BG and also noticed copper around the chamber, including small splinters around the shoulder of the chamber. I looked down the barrel and can see fouling in the rifling. Question is does that damage the barrel and can i fix it? Ammo is 762 tula. Second pic you can see impact marks
  4. I have a M70 OPAP rifle, I was taking out the rear sight and now I noticed it just flops around? My method uses a screwdriver and a rubber mallet to tap it out. Question is can I fit in a new spring without drilling?
  5. Here is a pic IMG]http://i43.tinypic.com/2edz0k9.jpg[/img]
  6. The importer wants to send me a " new rifle". Only problem since it's converted doesn't that void the warranty.
  7. Cool! Thanks Matt, Always a source for useful info.
  8. I finally finished my conversion. Love it, I haven't fired it yet. Quick question the Kvar stock, when fully pushed inside the rear of the receiver I noticed the area where the hole plugs go. The Kvar stock fills it in making it near impossible to push the plugs in. I shoulda welded it, oh well... How do I fix the issue? Notch the stock or cut it before it reaches the first set of holes?
  9. I was function testing my rifle and i noticed the brass and neck of the bullet have a thin scratch. To me it appears, the bolt rides it and scratches right when it makes contact with the bullet guide. However, when i removed the BG it still does it. Not as drastic
  10. We fixed it. Took a belt sander and shaved it down. Feeds and extracts fine
  11. The crazy thing is he has a garage full of AK's he built himself from flat's. He did everything else complicated, but overlooked a bullet guide ??
  12. We'll Saiga mags or AK's dont fit. I haven't shaved down the mag release as what's needed to do in the conversion. When I flipped it around, and slipped it underneath the barrel the holes dont align anymore.
  13. I had one last step to complete my Saiga and was to put in the " bullet guide". I took it to a local builder, who comes highly recomended. I got home and started to compare his work to other pics and I noticed it's in backwards.... Fail.. The lip that sticks out is in the mag well, question how can we/I fix it ? 1) larger hole? retap it? 2) Or should I just shave off the lip down and try to get it to work..
  14. Wow, very informative post! I appreciate you sharing that knowledge. My intention is to paint the receiver only. Hopefully it will match up nicely Another question, let's say 220 grit sandpaper didn't leave the most smooth surface on the receiver( I was told it's too coarse) . Should I try 400 grit? or fill it in with JB weld or some kinda bondo to make the surface ready to accept paint?
  15. So I'm in the middle of a conversion and everything was going along great except for the paint. I used Dupicolor 1634 " low gloss" and I guess I managed to mess up the masking lines on the trigger area. I tried like 5x to get it right and I decided to just paint the entire receiver, after some tooling marks appeared on it. I sanded some areas of the receivers down with 220 grit. After Wendsday I'm planning on using acetone and spraying it with 1634 dupi color " low gloss". Only problem is that nobody seems to really know what color shade of black Izhmash uses, I even wrote a email to
