That ranks high on the "most confusing articles I have ever read". My head started hurting trying to figure out what exactly was being put across.

This has been done by a guy in TN or KY. If I could think of the name of his blog, I would give you a link. His comp is obviously massive. Interestingly, the achievement he seemed most proud of was finding a source of reasonably affordable brass and projectiles. I think he managed to get it down to $33 a shot for first time and around $13 for reloads, but it has been a long time since I read about it so don't hold me to that.
That makes my .308 sound like peanuts at a buck per round.

Just mount the whole chain gun in the tank turret. You could hold more ammo than the plane could handle and it would be devastating against all kinds of armor and buildings. Imagine that beast rolling up and taking out an entire city block with a sweep of it's muzzle!

2 years from now we will be whining about him leaving because the new one is even worse....

Holy cow, have you even seen the 20mm sniper rifles? They weigh like over a hundred pounds and kick like a mule on steroids. The A-10 uses 30mm rounds. To handle the power the gun would be so enormous and heavy that it would be utterly impractical.
But it would be totally badass

That sexy, sexy scorpion...

Glocks have their place, being the cheap, basic, durable pistol with lots of aftermarket parts, but they are kinda awful in the trigger, ergonomics and aesthetics departments. I also have large hands and compact pistols just disappear. I have a stainless Ruger SR9 that I really like, the trigger is a bit heavy but it looks great and fits my hand wonderfully.

I just scored a gun safe from a surplus store out in the boonies. It's a Stack-on 22 gun safe with electronic lock that had some scratches on the finish. I got it for over 50% off. LOVE ME SOME SCRATCHES YEAH. It's not the biggest or fanciest but for a first safe it couldn't be beat. Loaded it in my dad's pickup and brought it home. Now to install it in it's new home and fill it up.

Aww, sad to see it go. It's sexy in an ugly, dangerous and unique sort of way. Plus the fantastic weaponry. RIP. We need more aircraft like this that you see and immediately go "that's an American plane". We have a penchant for making strange and ugly but functional aircraft (Apache, AWACS, P38 Lightning, V22 Osprey, B2 spirit, etc.).
The F-ed up 35 is ugly without the charm and the cost is insanity squared times itself.

Springs don't wear from just compression. It's repeated cycles that put any wear on them.
Except for magazines. They will tend to weaken if you leave them fully loaded for long periods.

I'd like a couple if anybody still has them

1986 bill written to protect police from so-called "cop killer" rounds that largely exempted rifle ammo like the 5.56 because it has been used by target shooters, not criminals.
Exactly! 5.56 is not even designed to be a lethal cartridge, which is why the soldiers hate it! Pansy-livered parasites.

A pile of 00, #6 and slugs to feed my insatiable saiga

I would snap it up. I paid $800 NIB for mine recently, it was a fairly large gun show and it was the only one there and it was a private seller. I did score a 12 round promag drum for $15 with it.

I need to find one. Traditional values are not completely dead!

You can get a ruger 10/22 standard or carbine for about $250

What, you think their scientists only worked on shooty thingies and blowing-up thingies?
How do they keep breeding if they go in the back door? She and the rest of those libertines are not even British. Windsor was made up to give them an English sounding name. They are nearly 100% German.
The Germans couldn't get in the front door...so they went in the back door...
That sounded better in my head.

If you really want to make it an unforgettable present, get her a Barret 50...
Just kidding I don't have any experience with said gun, but any young person who is excited about guns is alright in my book. Teach her well

CZ has the very nice Scorpion evo 3s1 pistol in 9mm. Stick on a Sig brace and you've got a sweet little carbine. Mags are like $20.

stripper clip question
in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
Posted
I have not had any problems with long storage in stripper clips. Although the ones I have are lined with a brass strip, presumably to protect the primers from corrosion. Get yourself a strip loader for whatever mags you have and you can load them really quick and easy.
