Well that didn't go too bad. Took me a few hours but overall it went smoothly. Except for some of the springs. Now I just gotta wait for the pistol grip and stock so I can finish the project and test it.

Most of my parts just came in the mail. Saiga has been disassembled down to the bare receiver. Now to put together the Tapco trigger.

By *stupid safety*, I assume you mean the trigger safety? I don't even notice it. The magazine disconnect and LCI can be removed if so desired. It does have the "lawyer trigger", but all in all its pretty nice and has a heck of a lot better looks than a glock. Unfortunately, there isn't much aftermarket stuff available...Want style, capacity and ambi thumb safety in a polymer frame striker fired pistol? Try the Ruger SR9, very nice gun, especially the stainless version (which I own).
Other than the stupid safety, the HUGE loaded chamber indicator, the paragraph and the pointless magazine disconnect, I quite liked the SR9c my friend just sold for a sig. The trigger on it was the best of the plastic guns I have shot, and it generally felt easy to hit with.

Besides my Saiga 12, I just picked up a Ruger SR762, a bunch of accessories for both guns, some .308 ammo and 200 shells of federal target.

Yeah, I got some very good advice on my thread. Perhaps you could shoot left-handed for a while, or get a slip-on recoil pad from Wal-Mart. I'm planning to do many of the same conversion things as you.

God first, guns second, government...beyond human comprehension.
Ahhh, the thick skinned type, now thats what internet message boards need more of.I think I'll like it here. I have really thick skin, about the only thing that can penetrate it is a Saiga
So by the way... what are your religious beliefs?

My saiga 12 was a private deal. He glanced at my driver's license, I handed him the cash, we shook on it. Everybody is happy, and ignorance is bliss (for the gov at least).

Well I ran a whole bunch of shells through and ordered a bunch of parts, now to set up a table in a corner for a long project.

Sliding around in slush while wet snow comes down or trying to reload at 0℉ is not my idea of a good time, guns or no. And when I come home from a long day out in the cold, I really don't want to go out in it again.
Guns will shoot in all of those conditions. So the problem is you?I am sick of cold and snow and ice and slush. I wanna go outside and shoot my guns!

Personally, I think nickel-plated guns look cheap and icky. Give me a nice brushed or polished stainless steel any day.

Thanks guys, I think I'll like it here. I have really thick skin, about the only thing that can penetrate it is a Saiga Already ran a box of #8 Winchester target as soon as I got home, had one stovepipe but no biggie. Can't wait to dump a bunch more through to break it in, lotsa fun

Hey all, I just purchased a fine specimen of a Saiga 12. Why? Because everybody has a pump, or a semi with a tube, or an over-under or a side-by-side, but very few own a Saiga or anything that even resembles it. And since I can't afford the SRM 1216, I went with the Saiga. So now I'm planning to convert it and tac it up and have a blast! I'm actually pretty excited to be dinking around with the guts, it'll give me some thing to do in the evenings.

I just converted my S12 in an afternoon. It was not hard, it just takes time. Stay cool, take your time and watch videos on conversions and it will go fine.
