  1. I thought it was a pretty good game. I don't really care much about either team (I'm a Skins fan) but was kinda pulling for the Packers. I usually go for the NFC team. But when the Packers pulled ahead, I'd go for the Steelers. Then back to the Packers. I just wanted at least a somewhat close game. I would have preferred it closer but it was still good. What truly sucked was the mutilation of our National Anthem. Her excuse? She was nervous. Yeah, right, whatever. I would be nervous singing in front of all of those people unless, of course, I did it for a living! Quite simply, if you don't know the words, don't get up and sing it at the Super Bowl!!!!

  2. This line is in the fourth verse 'And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."' so he seems on point to me.

Can you point out which part of the song mentions corporations and global warming? these topics are unrelated to the discussion at hand. There is a section for politics if that's what you feel like talking about.

He mentioned those 2 things at the end of his post. It wasn't the main subject of his post. AND, I do believe it is the moderators responsibility to tell people what is and isn't appropriate what to post or where to post.

  3. I always find it funny how people try to claim the motto is a product of the 20th century...and they'll probably say the Star Spangled Banner doesn't count either, because it wasn't officially adopted until the 20th. So what did we have before that?

The original Anthem was 'Hail, Comlumbia' and it contained the lines

"While off'ring peace, sincere and just,

In Heaven's we place a manly trust,"

Woops, guess it was there too...and in the last line of the Declaration of Independence. Our country was founded on "In God We Trust" whether you like it or not.

But don't let that stop a good witch hunt! The founders will not rest in their graves until every last courthouse nativity scene is kicked over! It's not like they prayed and held church services in Congress...oh wait, they did...but clearly by the principles of separation of church and...no wait, it was Jefferson who drafted and signed the Declarion of Independence that contained the original mention of "In God We Trust", and he was the one who allowed the Capitol building to be used for church services. ...b-but...corporations...g-global warming...

Please keep your political rants in the politics section. This thread is (supposed to be) about the fourth verse of the Star Spangled Banner.

  4. This problem can be solved pretty easy as far as I can see. Take away their publicity. Far as I'm concerned, this is a MSM problem. Stop giving them free advertising. Keep the barriers up and they will go away. Rolling Thunder has done a great job at the military funerals that they could attend. Anything illegal or violent towards them only gives them fuel for their 'fire'. These guys will rot in Hell when the time comes. I have patience.

  5. I have the Droid Eris. I absolutely love it. I would suggest you get the Advanced Task Killer. It helps a lot at saving your battery. But I do agree that the biggest downside is the battery life. But you can plug it into the wall, your computer or your vehicle so you almost always have some way of charging it.

Having one of these is like having a tiny little computer with you wherever you go.

  6. Talk about underestimation of the enemy. At least if anyone that wanted to attack us thought that. Americans have fought long and hard for freedom. If you're talking about the radical Muslims, seems a lot of them want to die to get to their virgins. I'd stand with the older person, though maybe not in better shape, that has been hunting regularly, than his younger counterpart. I take brains over brawn any day.

  7. The truck is mine, not Shannons. It was owned by someone who lived in MD for the first 11 years of it's life. I bought it in 2005. If anyone is responsible for the condition of the truck, it's me, not Shannon. I left it sitting for 3 years. It's not good for a vehicle to just sit there that long. But it was my doing. I'm just glad that part is fixed.

Hopefully this thread can be useful to someone else as long as they don't mind reading through all the petty bickering....

  8. Welcome aboard Ammo and Lace! It's great to have another woman on the forum. I would like to say that I believe most of the guys on here aren't sexist. There may be a few but none has ever acted that way toward me. They are, for the most part, a decent group of guys. There are only two here I really, really don't like and 1 hasn't been around since April and the other reared his ugly little head again in July. He came back flaming and he may have had his nasty little head smacked back down. But it is very helpful on here to have thick skin. There are a lot of very direct people on here.

And a big +1 on outing all the multiple screen names on here. I started another account when I was being regularly suspended because of who I am dating but that hasn't happened in a long, long time. I'd gladly erase it if I could as I have no intention of using it. And thanks for the exclusion for Cobra and myself. We are 2 different people as many, many on this forum can attest since we've either met or talked on the phone.
