  1. My impression was that KA people could have AK builds on receivers that aren't yet named, including homemade ones, but that they have to have either a fixed 10rd mag or no restricted features, not even a thumbhole. The result would be building what amounts to a Saiga on an AK parts kit.

I've been working on designs for a rear end conversion that would serve such a build well, as well as for anyone who likes that sort of style But I don't have any major progress yet.

  2. Yes and no. Yes I've made furniture for the Romanian PSL. No I'm not ready to produce/take fresh orders, because I need to get myself a PSL to model the attachments correctly.

What I did for Romakdaddy was very much a cooperative project, and one I represent myself to be ready to make should have less effort required from the buyer.

If you're interested in a higher-than-normal maintenance purchase, let's talk.

  3. This has been linked to before, but I figured one thread for the whole weblog, bumped occasionally when there's an update, would make sense.

These are articles written by me to be used as a resource in your discussions defending the RKBA. Generally these give a slightly different slant than what we're used to, often turning the other side's logic against them or exhaustively refuting their claims. To most of us they're preaching to the chior.

They probably won't convince the craziest leftists, but thoughtful people whose awareness of gun related issues could be improved could benefit. They aren't aimed at one of the two political parties, but at legislation and ideas.

If you want to share them, feel free to share them via print or E-mail. Be sure that you print the copyright info at the bottom. If you want to post them on another forum or weblog, be sure to include the link to the original gunandgame.com entry. If you want to cite it in your writing, contact me for my academic credentials. If you think it would fit a publication, contact me to discuss the matter.

  4. Free speech is a right under the constitution. Part of it is that you can be free to make your rules in a private forum on what speech is and isn't tolerated.

Free speech on an internet forum is a matter of being competitive. Certain kinds of talk are and aren't befitting of a gun forum. A good forum is one that has the right rules and the right people to enforce them. If one forum won't, another forum will.

Gun forums that I have positive experiences with:

    www.gunandgame.com (I'm a mod)

    www.akfiles.com

    www.gunco.net

    www.ar15.com

    www.akforum.net

www.graybeardoutdoors.com (emphasis on sporting and handguns, but an excellent forum)

    www.shotgunworld.com

There is nothing stopping anyone from participating in many forums. If anything, their competition and examples are good to learn from.

  5. The last thing we should be doing is prodding the ATF. Harrassing an LE agency only brings about a rash reaction. If they ever didn't want to touch an issue, you've now forced them to.

MD's offensive comments combined with high pressure marketting, ie "stop being a ***** and buy a drum", along with his being convinced that the S-12 would go DD and thus wanting to make his bucks really quick, are enough to turn me off to buying anything from him for professional reasons alone.

If anyone was mad at how FBMG treated people, that is nothing compared to his customer relations disaster.

Those of us who frequent other forums could maybe check to see if he's posting about it elsewhere. I'm a little suspicious though, as to why he would post it here first when he knew it was unwelcome while there are many other AK boards with a strong Saiga following. He seems to know nothing at all about professionalism, so I'm questioning whether he really knows how to make a fresh drum magazine from scratch and actually organize production.

  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but:

This is not Bvamp's house. Bvamp was the first moderator apart from the admin. The mods here have most of the tools that admins do elsewhere, like banning and such. But Bvamp is not the owner, unless some sort of part-ownership arrangement has been made that I don't know about. The best analogy would be a manager. Vice president AT BEST.

This is Makc's forum. While we should not be undermining the authority of those who manage the forums, voicing grievances in a reasonable manner through the proper channels is exactly what we should be doing.

I wish that Makc was more visually present on this forum. I would be the first to say that personal and business commitments come before managing a gun forum. Just that the result is this forum being run in a way I believe is not what the owner expected, intended, or in some cases even realizes.

The only thing you can threaten to do is leave. Threatening to leave with an unreasonable demand will only get you the door, no mattwer where you go. What you need to do is voice your concerns reasonably, ask for certain issues to be addressed, state any positions you have, and make some simple polite suggestions on how things could be resolved to make your satisfaction and participation in this site better than ever.

If enough people say the same simple, reasonable things, then perhaps this issue could be resolved in a manner that doesn't drive most of our good people away.

  7. I just got this E-mail, titled "In BattleRifle's name: $50 donation made to the Brady Center"

    Dear BattleRifle,

I came across one of your postings on GunandGame while browsing reactions to the March 9 Federal Appeals Court decision finding Washington, DC's gun ban unconstitutional.

Obviously it wasn't one of your more well-researched postings, but a blind rant against Nazi Germany and "Stalinistic Russia". It reminded me how many anti-gun control advocates are low self-esteem videogame and movie junkies. I promptly made a US$50 donation to the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

I hope that you've come around and given up your childish attachment to guns since that posting. Maybe you've started weight-training like me. A muscular build is a superior substitute for guns.

If you have not come around, know that your rant put a few more resources into efforts to regulate guns in this country.

***Name changed to protect the ignorant***

I am open to suggestions on how to respond, or not. I have no interest in getting into a flame war that people participate in recreationally.

    Ideas I've had:

1.) Concisely point out the fallacies in his statements about me in a reply, which would be my last.

2.) Reply that I'm sending $100 total to one or more pro-gun associations.

3.) Remove my E-mail address from public view and tell people to contact me through private messages instead for permission to use and information to cite the article.

4.) Try to track down and remove my screenname from any record of his donation to the Brady Campaign.

Here is my weblog with two articles on the subject.

  8. There is no law against making any magazine. There is a law allowing a federal agency to ban any shotgun arbitrarily. That is what we are concerned about.

There is such a thing as picking one's battles. For example, supporting a law like HR 1096 upholding the 2nd Amendment in its original meaning that would then apply to all firearms, including those this forum focuses on, instead of challenging a ruling on a specialty item.

The administration of this forum has chosen its position on this matter, and we who are not administrators need to comply when posting in this forum. The item under discussion is not illegal - it is unwelcome, and its inventor has rudely pushed it on this forum with persistent disrespect to the membership in general.

Any reasonable business owner knows better than to do that. I would be concerned about doing business with a person who acts and talks that way to who he claims to be potential customers. Calling people "wuss" or similar if they don't buy his product would make me feel like a wuss if I ever did buy his product. Plus his generally unprofessional approach makes me weary of trusting him with my money, and weary of investing in a product supported by him.

Coming to a discussion site, breaking a forum rule, and profanely insulting a majority of its membership and leadership is reason enough to ban someone without any explanation. He can go find another website and see if his behavior is tolerated any better there. He can go and make his items and see if they get enough publicity for any of our concerns to come true.

But he should not have acted the way he did under any circumstances, and those actions deserve neither the patience of administrators nor the financial support of forum members.

  9. I always figured that was his forum as a business member, and that the other forums were chosen by admin decision for the forum members to discuss the items objectively.

Sort of like a general forum having a Remington forum, vs having a Remington owned and sponsored forum on their site.

I see the business forum as being between the business and the admin, and the open discussion forums as being between the admin and the members. So whatever's most amenable to all parties.

  10. I use double hook for personal preference. I make a minor mod to the receiver to allow it to work.

And the G2 FCG alone is reason enough to do the conversion. I can't imagine a conversion without one. What handguard are you using that's US made? Halo?

  11. It could happen. This board structure was set up a while ago. It's been suggested and may occur. It would be a great way to put Tromix project and announcements neatly in a place where others can find them.

I have also suggested that a Tromix forum displace the Hesse forum. Again, it could happen. Mods and admins do have lives too, and good ideas still take time to be considered and implemented.
