  1. Can you use a 2 1/2 in mag for top and a 3 in mag for the bottom as the 3 in are cheaper? Just hate to cut up two 2 1/2 mags when I got some 3's laying around...thanks

The differance is the rear follower rail the 3" is further back the shells rim load behind the folower rail and the 2.5" it loads in front of the follower rail which itself is about 3/16" further towards the front. good idea for a higher cap 2.5" mag but looks like you will sacrifice 2. Sorry. :(

  2. I've been shooting my Saiga 410 for a few years now and have been happy with it. I bought it as a fun gun, being cheap enough buy at $250 and to shoot as much as I wanted. Ammo prices have gone way up in the last four years and for some reason 16 gauge shells are now about half to three quarters the price of 410's so I've been using that gun more lately. I got a bunch of 10 rd. mags and they add to the fun. After using it a while I figured it would make a great home defense gun too. Winchester, Remington and Sellier&Bellot offer 3" 00 buckshot. This gives you 5 pellets. I'm happy with the accuracy of the slugs. The only complaint being a couple of boxes of Rottweil slugs that were so feeble they wouldn't even cycle the gun. Don't bother with shot any smaller than #4 unless you're with 25 feet of your target. At 50' #4 shot gives you a pattern about 30" across and you can lay your hand on the target and cover two or three pellets. For squirrels, shoot twice. The buckshot is spread in an oval about 3 1/2" across at 50'. The gun is a little clunky for a shotgun and doesn't have the easy swing and targeting of a single shot or pump, but you get used to it. Buy one, try it out. If you don't like it you won't have any trouble selling it.

Any chance of parting with 1 10round mag?

Mmm.. best not, you never know what's coming. The rumors around here are that rusmilitary will have more in January, and that's where I got mine, $60 each as I recall. And when MD Arms releases their 15 (?) rd mag and/or drum mag, I'm buying at least two of each. Before I learned of MD Arms I was planning to make molds for casting the magazine head and follower in a filled epoxy. I hadn't worked out the details for the body, but have had some experience in forming springs so I figured it was a matter of time before I had a working model. A lot of work to go through and of course life keeps barging in, but it illustrates the real need for these magazines. If rusmil or MD fail us, I may consider producing them myself. There's a need for 2 1/2" mags as well. I know there are 4 rd ones available and maybe that's enough given that the loads are small to start with at 3". Maybe if we all got together and yelled real loud.

Hey no problem at all. thanks for replying back. i'm going to try Rusmilitary i saw where they said mid Jan. I wouldn't let them go either.

  4. Plus, they will price items BELOW COST in order to force smaller competitiors out of business.

We have a Walmart near me, but they were thinking of putting in another one about 10 miles away, more in the city, unlike the current one which is on a 5 mile stretch of stores/banks/whatnot. People are afraid if the put up the new one, it will drive all the little mom & pop shops in the city out of business, which it probably will. IMO, you don't need two Walmarts within 10 miles of eachother  .

I hear you on 10 miles apart, Right now there is one on I85 exit 47 and they are doing site development on exit 51 for another one 4 miles apart WTF.

  5. i fondles a saiga 223. for the first time at my local shop the other day and to me it felt heavier than my wasr 7.62 the weight wasnt a problem i actually like a rifle to have a little weight to it i was just wondering if they are heavier or if it was just me

    Thicker receiver?.

  6. Over at akforum they are still being inmature about it. but kind of sidetracked as well. with other pics and not just yours. I'm sorry Dayan that you are a victim of something like this. As far as collection goes dude you have a Saiga. Doesn't matter if converted or not awesome guns eitherway.

  7. Well before the armchair cops and soldiers jump in and start saying he's not a POLICE officer, but a security guard instead, y'all just think about what people in that line of work do. They ARE police. They are trusted to keep the peace just like any other LEO and are often called upon to defend the public, not just babysit properties while everyone else is asleep.

In fact we have a member here who just a couple weeks ago got banged a up a little while thwarting a bank robbery in progress.

I believe that was Dayan himself who posted about the a-hole at the bank. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=19950&hl=

  8. Thats one of the problems with the internet, If you post a picture or something and one person sees an opportunity to poke fun good or bad it is just going to explode into something it was never intended to be. Just look at the number of hits this is getting most all guest from other forums that have really been VERY negative towards him.

  9. This is going to sound silly, and I posted questions about it previously. I CAN NOT remove the choke. I'm still assuming its a right hand thread. I have soaked it in Kroil (similar to WD40), I heated it with a heat gun (didn't want to use a flame). I need to find/make a barrel vise blocks with the proper ID so I can clamp it, and "get on it".

Any thoughts? is anyone else having this much trouble removing it? I can't install my front sight, otherwise.

That front sight is sweet, Can you make them for the .410? Threads should be right to loosen and left to tighten.

  10. Yah but the conversion is done so thats no FCG, no Pgrip no time. Buy a new stock and you're still in for $100 less than if you bought it new and did everything yourself.

I agree with that, The hard work is done for someone that doesn't have the time or other reasons to do the conversion themselves. Just change the furniture if they want too. They had intentions with it probally.

  11. Is that the 4 rd mags welded together? Looks good.

Does anyone weld .410 mags? Found a pawnshop on Auction Arms selling new mags 3 for $49.00. Looking for someone I can pay to do it.

    Thanks

    Check with Dinzag.

That was my first e-mail,but sadly he does'nt do it anymore.

Nice job superhawk! Wanna make a couple of bucks? How long did it take you?

Thank you, I would be glad to but i'm in the middle of a move and my tools and stuff are locked up in storage for a while. I'm getting my S-12 next week and can't even touch it untill after the new year sux. It took about an hour to get it functioning by hand then waited untill i went to the range to check live fire. After that it was probally about 45mins with a sander and some flat black paint.

This is my 2, 4 rounders welded together after i knocked the extra plastic down with coarse grit before i did any final sanding with fine. Mine can be loaded with 9 rounds on closed bolt.

  12. If you look at the rifle closely, the rifle has "bubba" buttstock, the trigger guard is not properly bent, the handguard is not original. Looks like someone did a nasty conversion job. I live in Marietta, GA and I can buy a brand new S308 for $329 + tax = $350. I really don't think you got a deal out of it.

    Another GA local.

  13. Welcome to the under rated saiga shotgun club. I personally love mine except for the price of ammo for it. 10 rounders are very rare and hard to find right now although http://www.rusmilitary.com says that they are available in mid January and MD Arms has some stuff in the works for the near future. You can get choke kits from a new online store at http://www.saigastock.com . You can also buy 3, 4 rounders for $47.00+$6.00 S&H at http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayi...itemnum=8353825 then plastic weld 2 4rounders together and get either 8 rounds or 9 rounds like the one I did. Hope that helps you out some.
