I bought my Saiga-12 at a gun show a few months ago. It was a fairly large show and two or three dealers were selling Saigas, but only one was selling any Saiga-12s. I picked one up NIB for about $420. I've never seen one in a gun shop. My neighbor gave me a copy of Shotgun News and I only saw one tiny ad advertising any sort of Saigas for sale.

Last year my house was broken into. Nothing particularly valuable was stolen and I didn't have any guns at the time. Now I have several guns, including my Saiga-12, and I have no real good place to hide them. I'm very paranoid about someone breaking in and finding them. Handguns are easy to hide but my rifle and shotgun are tricky. I'd like to keep them stored in the attic. However, it does get very hot up there during the summer (I live in Georgia) and my concern is that it would be bad for the guns, especially my SKS since it has a wooden stock. I bought my first Saiga 12 on Saturday at the local gun show. It was new in the box and has never been fired. Do I need to do anything to the gun before I go out and shoot it?

What are the differences between these two guns?
