  1. Nice gun brother

Here the dimples on the GB and FSB http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=21144

I read you other thread, I used brute force on the pictured gun, I didn't drill the dimples on the FSB  didnt know what they were. What happens is the dimple will pull and leave a groove until it wears off. i'll send some pics if you want. I have them finished this weekend. I am picking up a wasr2 in 545 today. ammo is so cheap I had to get it.

  2. Guys,

Picked up two saigas today 762, and a 223. I have done several conversions, and was lookng forward to knocking these out over the weekend. Well I found that on the FSB & on the GB there are two stamped dibbets on each side.

    SaigaCon1.jpg

I had to drill them out and then press the thing off. not do bad, the good news is they have the AK 100 series GB. at the true 90 degree angle. this is the first set of guns I have seen with the 90 GB as well as the stamped dibbetts. Well here is a rough cut of the rifle 223. I will update later.

  3. I have no personal knowledge of the STG, but I wouldn't buy one. What's the point?

I bought a WASR-2, high capacity, from Aim Surplus, I guess it is a Century product. The rifle is great, really excellent trigger. Wonderful value and the 5.45 ammo and the mags are relatively cheap.

Saigas are new rifles and good ones (I like my .308 and .223), but they don't come in 5.45.

    Monomonk

What 30rounders are you using? I am picking up the 223 this weekend and another 762, and will convert. I used Promags in my old 762  with out any problems :haha: do the promag 223 work? :dollar::dollar::dollar::dollar: Yeh Im cheap on my mags, 14.99 for the 223 pro  or 24.99 for the Bulgy 223 :cryss::devil: ouch! but 10.00 bucks is worth it not to have to fuck with the FTF issues.

  4. I am thinking about getting a STG-2000 and it is as well a wasr. I did alot of research on WASR's and the STG...

You didn't do that much research if you're thinking about an STG 2000 :P

I'm kidding of course but I've never heard anyone say one good word about that gun. Try to check one out in person if you haven't already. They probably run fine but the finish on them is pretty terrible. The handguards look like they were fused together with a soldering iron.

I also heard recently (and this may just be rumor) that they reach 922r compliance with the mag followers and floorplates so they may not be legal with mil-surp mags.

Here's an older post from when AIM started selling them. Blenderwizard bought one and sent it back.

    http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...30&start=30

I have not held one and before I buy I will def check them out. The one thing I like abou the Saiga is the HG. I never was a fan of the Ak look. I like the look of the HK's and My Sig 556, I changed the Tapco crap out and put a set of 552 HG and a CTR stock

    PICT0016.jpg

This how it shouldve looked! I think F-up when they did the tapco crap furniture. Oh yeh SIG did get there shit together and changed the look of the gun.

    stg20001.jpg

I like this look of the STG-2000 If cost wasn't a big deal, and it is! I would try and Mod the STG parts to a Saiga and have a great gun.

I bought my first Saiga 7.62 in Lubbuck, TX for 239.00. I shot 1,800 rnds in a weekend with my 3 kids and never had a hickup. I modded 3 magpul mags with a file in my truck and had a hell of a goodtime. My Stag AR's 6.8 .223 I had to clean every 200-500 rnds to keep them functioning. I then became a ak fan Saiga fan. If the Saiga can fire wolf ammo all day and all night and hit dead on at 250 yrds I would rather shoot them. Just the AK is the best value out there.

  5. I am looking for a pistol grip for my new 7.62. I've been looking online and it seems the only way I can get a pistol grip is if I buy the whole conversion grip? Is this true or can I just buy the pistol grip itself. I'm kinda new and still learning the different things you can do to the Saiga. Can somebody please help me?

Cheaper then dirt Ergo grip 11.99 I love it....

    http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS400-57752-2714.html

  6. WOW, I just read on this post. So now not talking anything bad about the Saiga, I mean if I didnt like it I wouldnt have bought it. But I figured I was doing alot of things to make it look like a AK and figured why not just save all that money and buy a AK. Personally I think the WASR looks alot better and meaner then the Saiga, but thats my opinion

Also, I'm not putting anybody down but its funny how everybody has their own point of views on the pros/conns of AKs and Saigas. I love this forum and even though I dont have my Saiga Il log on and read whats everybody's saying.

I have to say "have fun with your WASR":rolleyes::rolleyes: , I am thinking about getting a STG-2000 and it is as well a wasr. I did alot of research on WASR's and the STG and have found that most AK people (those who have them had them and wil have them) all say the same WASR's are Affordable AK varients. with a SAIGA you are getting the Russian AK-47, 74 built on the real line, redisigned to allow it to be imported in to our leftwing antigun pig headed liberal demacratic country. Yes I love america, and vote and I never served but come from 5 gen's of Roberts men who died for the right to rant. Whne you look at the real cost. WASR 379.00 Ak ready. Saiga 269.00 + 139.00 in parts. If you were to purchase a ak of the same build quality and specs of a Saiga, you would be in it for 575 to 650 :dollar: TX gun show prices. I have 3 and will pick my 4th up this weekend. And think you can sell that 10rnd mag for 30.00 on ebay to some poor bastard in CA. who can have the 30 rnd mag. But I am getting a STG I like the look and Well if it goes bang bang I can care less. I love the AK. I have 3 AR's and hate them but there so cool looking.

JUST ENJOY YOUR RIGHT TO SHOOT AN AK, AR OR WHAT EVER ELSE YOU HAVE.

    Picture072.jpg

  7. Has anyone found the the furniture that is used on the STG 2000? Can you buy it in the states? I like it a lot! It kinda has an HK look about it.

Or has anyone had experience with one and how do they compare with a Saiga?

I can get a Saig 762 for around 279.00 and then have 100.00 in the conversion. I can buy the STG for 389.00, ten bucks more but I want to know how she shoots.

    Thanks

  8. Hi, all

I ordered some FBMG bodies and used the factory 8rnd internals to complete one mag. I never got around to ordering or building the mags found in the tech section, with the L1A1 spring. Well the other day I was cleaning some gun stuff up and found my original 10 rnd .762 mags and thought what the hell the spring might be diffrent the 30 rnd mag. I installed the Folower and spring and used a M14 mag plate! and Hell yeh the function perfect!!!! So thought you would like to know. That spring is perfect. The Ten Round original spring.

  9. That depends on which AK HG you are talking about. If it's the Galil style you can get their version that's made to bolt right on without any special hardware. You don't have to change the gas tube.

what if it is the two piece set???

  10. I would try Winchester AA Super Handicap or Super Sport birdshot. It's a pretty stout load as birdshot goes.

    Tony

Thanks again Tony. I am now working on converting my old sig 556 hand guards to fit my s12 ill send some pics later. Who is making the rail system ive seen?

  11. Maybe I'm just a nut-job, but after a few beers, I was thinking about making an S-12 shorter then 6".

Something around 3"......which of course is the complete length of the chamber.

My thought is to drill the gas port about 3/4" off the breech face, right through the side of the chamber and vent it into the gas manifold. The gas manifold would be bumped up against the receiver. The gas pressure would blow a hole right through the side of the plastic shotshell hull, into the gas manifold, driving the piston rearward to cycle the action.

I'm sure the internet jockey's will ask "why"........it's simply because high speed mechanical engineering is interesting to me.......I would get a warm fuzzy feeling if it actually worked.

    Your thoughts?

Maybe I should donate my hack job if you put in the labor :rolleyes: My stamp is for max 8" so you would have to pay the additional tax stamp as well :haha::haha: Haha.

Hey I purchased some xpert 1400 loads and will try tomorrow. I ran into a guy who owns one of your thumpers or so he said. He did know about your work and was very very happy with his thumper.

  12. I don't like to go below 16", without moving the gas block rearward.

The factory gas ports are about .073".

I would redrill them .101" and angle them WAY back, so you have a bit of "trough" rather then a straight-in hole.

There is no magic with the gas ports, you can drill them as large as you want, but the trade off is increased wad fouling in the manifold, so you will have to clean it more often. On the Tromix 8" guns, the four gas ports remain at the factory .073" size and still cycle light loads without a problem.

Moving the gas system rearward is a lot of work, and not really necessary in your case, unless you want to shoot birdshot type loads. It would run $400 for the gas relocation work, barrel threading, and refinishing. The problem is that the lead time for work in the Tromix shop is now 15 months and growing rapidly.

    Tony,

Thanks a million! I got some high base heavy loads and it cycled perfect as you said it would. I think on the seventh day GOD created TROMIX! No really thank you. One other question do you think a heavyload with out high base would work? Like 00 heavy or 9 9 shot heavy? Thanks

  13. It should run high base heavy loads just fine with the ports opened up and the barrel cut back to 11" or so.

However, if you started with a 22" gun, then you probably only have three ports. It would be best to add a fourth port if possible.

    Hey tony,

First off I'd like to say thanks for your help - I know your business is customizing and I do appreciate your time. I have the 19" barrel, I hacked 8" off. Ok, I am a bonehead and all. My gun has 4 ports that I opened (the three front ports are now one half moon). When you say opened up, how opened do you mean? I have to say I've learned a lot about this shotgun over the past couple of days...

A couple more questions - what is the shortest barrel length that will not need to have the gas system shortened? Also, since I have the tax stamp on this gun, how much would you charge me to fix the gas system and make this gun work?

    thanks again!

  14. How much did you open them? You may not have opened them enough! NOT EVERYONE HERE IS AN ASSHOLE!

Oh i know, most I should get a dose of ribbing. I should have invested some time in it and did more research. But if worse comes to worse I will weld it together and sleeve it. I had a friend that did it, and it worked.

  15. Is a replacment barrel availible for the saiga 12??? I damaged my barrel!

Well I got my form 1 back and then hacked the barrel, opened the gas ports and no cycleing. I pissed off and now I will have to be made fun of on the site. I may send to Tony and see what he can do. I have 600.00 in it now so I need her fixed.

  16. Hey when I'm wrong I;m wrong and as the great dale carnagie says admit it and admit it loud!!! FBMG came through today, I got the email last night and they showed up today! Not only the 2 I ordered but an extra for my troubles!! :haha: I used my old 8 round internals and made one with the parts from the forum. Thank you all. I just want to say you do get a chubby pounding out 20 rounds of 308  . Once again Thanks You FBMG!

  17. I better get mine by Sept. 15th or I'm cancelling my order. It's been almost 6 weeks and they did say middle of September. Well, they've got four days.

Whatever I say the next little ice age.

Ok When I am wrong I will admit and move on Thank you FBMG for the mag bodies, I capped off 40 rounds of 308!!! I think I may have a chubby. These mags Went together like butter and worked excellent. Nice product quality was great. Thank you again.

  18. Well, there was no fine print in my case. They took my money and didn't ship material. Simple as that. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, as soon as I actually got ahold of someone 3 weeks later, they shipped the next day.

I'm not sure what the issue was, but having worked in logistics positions myself, it seemed like they were just too busy to follow every issue to it's conclusion. As soon as I finally reached a person, they looked into the problem and got it fixed right away.

I see what your saying, I got an email from them today with a trck number, they payed for next day shipping as well. Thank yiu FBMG.

i received my mag today as they said i would. they are very good people!!!!!!!!

Ok I eat CROW. Not only did I get my mag Bodies 2 that I ordered they added a third for the trouble. I EAT THE CROW.

He (GOD) created a world in 7 days and I can't get a 2 instock mag bodies in 30 days wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick edit: We can go with the Big Bang Theory 500,000,000 years I guess I can wait. It took that long for us to crawl out of the oceans and discover fire and lern to use fire to kill fellow man. Hey the UPS Guy is here! Hold On. No No Mag bodies just a tapco 6 potion stock I odered thursday last week. Hell as busy as Tony is he got me a little piston in for my S12 in less then a week. Maybe there follower and floor plates came in from Russia and my bodies were used to fill the back orders complete mags. Hmm Sound more relalistic the the shipping tomorrow statment.

  21. It's funny, I've placed three different orders with them, and I've never had to contact them about anything. Of course, I also paid attention to all the notices they put out about delays and backorders, so maybe that's why I wasn't mad...

    Just sayin...

Yes, I also read the fine print.
