I will have my dovetail after the conversion but is this one that screws into the front sight hole or some other set-up?

Got my smith lined up. Now looking to see what my options are for a rail on top. I have a Kross Hellion coming for the 8" build but am looking for a solid rail, hopefully to sit over the gas block area. Any ideas?

What are my options. I am having the side rail removed during my 8" build so I will need a rail on top to mount a red dot scope. I saw the new one by Tony with the built in HK sights but since I already have the sights to be welded on, what other option do you suggest. I would prefer it to mount over the short gas tube/block area but am open to ideas. What works for you guys with 8" shortys?
Thanks in advance.

This is the one I have. http://dpharms.com/saiga-us-made-russian-1...er-pi-1044.html I had the one you guys have been discussing but preferred the look of this one. DPH (Scott) was nice enough to trade out with me. Good folks with good customer service.

walmart Remington low brass rounds not ejecting........and irritating the crap out of me. I've cleaned and smoothed everything, lubed everything up, cleaned out the 3 gas ports i have. However, without fail, it will not eject the round on setting 1 or 2.
Any Suggestions?
Do you have or have you tried the Gungixer gas plug from MDArms?

I am going to get my 8" shorty build started and want to buy a Kross but in the meantime I need one for the gunsmith to be able to get correct dimensions for moving the gasplug and forearms screw hole into the correct position.
Thanks

My Form 1 stamp arrived today and I have gotten ahold of Gunfixer to quote me a price on a SBS conversion. In case he is covered up, is anyone else out there doing quality work that might have an opening sometime soon? I am only needing the barrel cut to 10 inches, rethreaded, HK sights welded on and Duracoat.
Thanks for the help.

Nailbomb,
Do you have any pics of the wood foregrip installed on a 8" version? What would you have to do to adapt it for installation?
Thanks

Tromix makes a guard especially for the 8" gun: the one on the left above.
I'm weird though and prefer the long handguard.
The Tapco Galil suits my taste as well.
Bob,
Does anything have to be done to the Tapco Galil to make it fit the 8" build?
Thanks for the info.

What works well for a forearm on a 8" Saiga-12 SBS?
Ideas, pics, and sources appreciated.
Thanks

I have a set of HK sights I was going to put on my Saiga-12 but have made other plans now. It is a complete rear sight which includes the base and the complete front sight. The rear base is new in the white with the upper portion already blued. The front site is a sight removed from a decomissioned HK. If you plan to weld it on, you simply need to cut the sight to fit the radius you want.
I will sell these for $80 shipped.
I accept paypal or USPS money order.
I often sell on ebay as zrxtrazoom and have a 100% positive feedback.
Thanks

Having trouble putting the Tromix pin retainer on (shepards crook) and am I going to have to gut the parts, start over to put the safety in? Does the safety go in first?
Thanks in advance for the assembly help.

Original butt stock and hand guard
in Saiga-12
Posted
Cobra,
I am looking for a shortened forearm for a 8" shorty build. My gunsmith has the Saiga-12 now but I have a Hellion ordered although it is 90 days out. Do these you make have to be custom measured and cut/drilled for screw or are they a standard widely accepted size? If you had a "junk" one that was the correct size and dimension for a standard 8" build that I could use so my smith could move the gas block to the correct position, I will gladly "rent" it from you and/or give you my forearm and stock when the conversion is completed. I did the FCG and folding stock myself so I have the stock in my posession but could send the forearm when the smith finishes my shorty.
What I need would not need to be pretty but the measurements would need to be right (I believe Zach at the group making the Hellion said it was exactly 72.6mm (or was it cm) from the front of the receiver to the center of the screw hole. Does that sound right?
Any help appreciated.
By the way, I am wanting a top rail to compliment the Hellion tri-rail. I am having my scope mount removed from the side of the receiver so the rail on top will be needed. I prefer something over the gas block but would also entertain the idea of further back. Any suggestions. From all I have read, I trust your opinions and thoughts.
Thanks for your time.
