  1. Mods: Sorry for the cross post but I felt compelled to have as many see this as possible....Pull it if you have to

This is what happens when we talk about keeping our freedom and not giving up our last line defense (weapons). Our weapons are the only thing that stands between any freedom at all and total enslavement. If you doubt what I say, watch this 10 minute video. Look at the people's faces and eyes. It says it all. They are sending a warning: ACT before it is too late.

Will take paypal or USPS money order. I have 100% positive feedback on e*bay as zrxtrazoom.

  4. This is the link to the tutorial on how to install the internal receiver block by Ace including instructions on how to use the extra screws for a solid attachment. I bought the tap, tap holder, screws, and drill bits for less than $20. Be sure to buy cobalt drill bits as the metal is very hard on bits. Ripper1 gives a good lesson starting at post #5.

  5. I just bought a Saiga 12 and brought it home. I opened the bolt and pushed the silver detent beside the trigger to hold the bolt to the rear.

The little silver piece has went inside the gun and I can't get the bolt to slide forward. Anyone ever have this happen or know how to fix this? :cryss:

The gun is brand new and never been fired.

Get a pair of needle nose pliers and while holding the bolt back, pull down on the "silver tab" and then release the bolt. I cannot tell what is making the bolt hold open stick.

  6. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like if the bottom ports were solid and gas was escaping from the top and side ports only, the escaping gasses, moving upward, would cause the barrel to be pushed downward as in mag-na-porting. No?

  7. Yesterday I signed off on production to start Monday on the MSA stock adapter and scheduled to pick up the first batch the following Monday. This batch will consist of 100 pieces which will then need to be anodized. As I had already announced there are drastic improvements over the ACE version. To outline a few I have listed them below.

Six point mount. Uses trunnion as well as PG nut to secure as well as the four factory FCG holes. You can rivet or screw in to further secure, if not you can use plugs in the holes to finish out the look.

Compatible with Tromix DIY trigger guard. No need to remove material from the block.

Corrected angles for future MSA S-12 stock to clear MD20 drum.

Clears factory rear trunnion without need to shave front of block down to slide under.

Sling attachment point integrated into the adapter.

Open face as to not interfere with trigger-guard retaining screw behind/under the FCG.

Reduced weight of adapted = reduced rifle weight.

Compatible with current stocks and hinges on the market.

Improved aesthetics. A little bit more than just the tang gets removed. You shave off just behind the trunnion screw, this trunnion/adapter seam now hides under the top cover to improve looks/finish. Has more of a Galil finish to the back of the receiver when completed.

    Thanks

I'll take one of the first batch please. E-mail me at esea2000@yahoo.com for price, etc.

    Thanks

  8. The main reason I'm thinking of going with an external block is to:

1: Allow the stock to fold with a drum in place.....

    post-1293-1227540191_thumb.jpg

2: Keep the tang in case I ever want to go back to a solid stock later.

3: Because of Michigan's stupid law, if the OAL of a firearm is under 30", you have to register it as a handgun. The external block puts it just over that.

I personally like the look of an ACE side folder with an internal block or a TROMIX back plate. However, I DON'T want to have to register my Saiga as a handgun, so I'll probably go with the external block.

    Corbin,

Who makes the handguard and gas tube cover with rail? Looks like what I want to do with mine.

    Thanks

  9. Ok... picked up my S-12 today...

The 5 round mag fit perfectly... The 10 round AGP mag was a bit tight going in (but not too tight I couldn't get it in with minimal effort). Locked in well and and pretty tight, slight bit of a wiggle very, very slight but compared to the OEM 5 rounder which was 100% solid.

    NO mag fitting NEEDED!

I have to confess after reading everything recently I was thinking if I was going to have to do all this "fitting" I would just sell it this weekend because I don't want that sort of hassle. I shouldn't have to do that with a new gun.

I did load the mag and fed the first 3 rounds out of it by yanking back hard on the on bolt and letting it slam forward 100% 3 rounds fed fine, would have done the entire mag but it's loud and late and my girls were going to sleep.

Also the follower on the 10 does NOT stick up as to catch the bolt so thats good.

Anyway my first impressions are good. I'll shoot it next weekend.

Anyway must not have gotten a vodka special either that or I lucked out.

I have 3 promags on back order. We'll see about them if they need fitting. If the do I'll be selling them and buying more AGP's.

I like to tinker with project/parts guns not $550 OEM guns. Looks like I'm keeping it for now ;)

Before I shell out for anything other than gas block I've got to shoot it.

I have a thread running here about serial number ranges of the "vodka specials". Do you mind telling us the serial number range you have?

  10. So I just found out I have only two holes. Who do I send it to?

First, you need to be sure you only have two. Sometimes they can be hard to see at the angle you are looking for them at. Secondly, you need to test fire your gun. It seems that various weapons function entirely different with the same number of holes.

You should shoot various loads using both gas settings to determine the response of your gun before assuming it will not work, although that may be the case. Just check it out thoroughly first. If it runs, great. If not, you can send it off for "repair".

  11. I started this thread to get an approximate serial number range of the guns that seemed to be having trouble with the gas systems. I have serial number HO84328XX. It has three holes visible and drilled completely through. I have not shot it yet and have spent time and $ to get all of my parts together for a conversion. I had removed the stocks, etc. getting ready to do the conversion but decided to re-assemble it and shoot it before voiding my warranty in case there is a problem with cycling. I have this question, though. I ordered a gas plug made by Gunfixr and now distributed by MD Arms. It has not arrived but I believe I read that it has been good about fixing the cycling problems that some others have had. The other thing is that I am waiting on a Form 1 to be approved and then was going to have the S-12 cut to 8 or 10" and if it was 8", I was going to have the gas block moved back so the number of holes would be besides the point since these would be welded up and new ones drilled if I understand the process correctly. Has anyone had similar issue that was fixed by the gas plug by Gunfixr or by moving back the gas block and redrilling?

    Thanks.

  12. Who makes a S-12 SBS Handguard in wood?

    post-6341-1234133137_thumb.jpg

This is a nice example who makes it and are there any other examples out there?

Nice handguards. I would like a set of that furniture too.

Why is that SBS designated S-12? Any reference to length? It appears to me to be a 8" barrel with whatever length threaded attachment added.

  13. In an effort to save time/effort (and most importantly, not mess up my internal receiver block) I was hoping someone could tell me how much to cut off of the front of the block (from the front, how far back and how deep from top of that level to go down) so I can go ahead and cut it without the old "trial and error" method. The cut I am talking about it shown in the pics below from this thread: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=32256

Any help with this will be appreciated. I am ready to do my conversion after finally gathering all the parts.

  14. I plan on a 8 or 10" SBS (waiting on Form 1) and would like experiences and suggestions on best options for front handguard and sights. I expect the gas port to be moved back so that would necessitate a shorter handguard, correct? I would like the option of an underside rail on the handguard at least. Pics would help me to visualize. Thanks

  15. It would be great if people who gained tips and know-how from this site and it's wealth of knowledge if they would pony up a little scratch to help KEEP the site going.

If it weren't for this site, there wouldn't BE a WTB/WTS section..... :smoke:

First of all, the extra parts are packaged up and going to the post office tomorrow for a refund. Secondly, the next time,(will not be long from now) I have some funds in my paypal account, I will make a contribution because I do enjoy this site and the info made available and the good majority of folks who frequent here (probably not the one with the wise-ass comment about being interested "IF" I was a contributor).

Of course, I could be wrong about him just like he is about me.

  16. I finally got all my parts rounded up for a S-12 conversion except for my Ace folding stock parts. Like my mags, I ordered from more than one source. When I wound up with several mags at about the same time I figured I would just keep them because you can always use or trade with mags.

Now I have two sets of folding stock parts by Ace. I ordered the mid-length Skeleton folder, Universal stamped receiver adaptor and the folding mechanism. Oh well, I could buy another S-12 or maybe just sell one set. ACE really is slow on shipping aren't they?
