Wouldn't you need to thread the barrel for a thread adapter to go from the smaller barrel diameter up to the 24mm size you have now?!? I threaded mine 14x1LH, installed the adapter, then threaded on my 24mm brake...

I have a 30" barreled Savage F/TR, in .308.... and its " MUCH EASIER " to be more accurate with that, than the 18" barreled Savage AXIS in .308....

Thread on the brake you plan to use... insert a dowel of almost bore diameter, and as long as you have clearance around the dowel in the brake, you are ok. if the dowel hits the brake anywhere... its a no go, as the bullets will also hit where the dowel made contact.

 

Loose/coarse threads arent as bad as a NON concentric thread job...
