  2. I've done a couple stocks and am working on a third. The first two were done in curly maple and turned out very nice. Curly or birds eye maple will both finish up real nice with just danish or tung oil (I'd suggest danish). They also work pretty well. Of the two choices you've mentioned, the red oak will be far easier to work with and will finish up nicer. Mahogony is probably not great for a gun stock because it's relatively soft and open grained. I don't know if you'd be satisified with it just an oil finish, and a furniture style varnish won't hold up. If you decide to go with r

  11. Hello Iam new to this forum ore any forum fore that matter my qustion is this Ihave an odd saiga it is not a regular sportsman model it has a full skellton stock with a mouveble cheeck rest and want to do a conversion without replacing the stockany ideas would be helpfull
