  1. Hello

Kickin' it ol'school with Federal LE "Full Power Flight Control" 00 Buck 2-3/4".

    Nice tight patterns, significant knockdown.

Guido is right. The "flight control" wad is good stuff. This is the best stuff out there now...IMHO!

  2. My goal is to put a wood buttstock and pistol grip on my Saiga 12 that just came in today. I want to make it look like an AK. I will worry about the forward handguards later.

I have found some guides, and I have read the all. I was going to buy a Tromix DIY kit from Carolina Shooter Supply, but they ran out at some point today. So to do it without the cheater kit, I am going to need to buy:

    Replacement trigger like a Tapco

Pistol grip with mounting nut and screw

New trigger guard (may cut down the existing)

    and a buttstock

Is that all? I figure I will get standard AK replacement furniture and modify the buttstock however I need to get it to fit into the read of the Saiga. Is the pistol grip going to need any shaping/modification?

Am I missing anything at all?

Disconnector Spring is nice to have

You'll also want a shepherd's crook or fire control group retaining plate (nicer way to do it!)

  3. I recieved my Form 1 Last week and it was approved on Nov 15. I sent it in sometime in early August so it took about three months to the day. Anyway, I just opened up my Email from Vickey at CGW with the UPS docs. I'm going to have Tom cut the barrel to 16" in order to recreate a factory Saiga 12-K. I plan to do the rest of the conversion myself, and will referr to Skotts Saiga 12 thread as an instruction guide. The only thing I plan to do different is the stock. I am going to use the black plastick AK 74 stock and pistol grip in non folder configuration for now. First things first. Basicaly, I just want to make sure the gun runs on the 1 oz. 2 3/4 brass after the barrell is cut and threaded. Lastly, I plan to get a digital camera in the near future, so I can post pix on this thread for anyone who is interested. Does anyone have any suggestions on what camera is the easiest to use? I'm still in the stone age when it comes to new technology. I bought my girl friend a digital camera a few years ago and still can't figure the damned thing out. Please give some advice. Thanks!

    Macaholic,

That sounds like a neat project. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses. Tom will take good care of you. Re: camera:

    1) set camera to VGA resolution so you don't have to convert pictures later.

    2) if taking closeups, look for the little "flower" icon and use this setting.

    3) use an on-line hosting site to post your pictures (I like hunt101.com) and then link to the pictures from your post.

    Good luck!

  4. Very nice indeed.....what kinda process to go through to own the full auto (legalities....)

Unfortunately, the legalities of full auto ownership are tricky. This particular gun is a "Post-86 Sample" and is not available to everyday folks. It can be manufactured by someone like Gunfixr, a FFL/Manufacturer who has paid the "special occupation tax" (SOT), but can only be transferred to other manufacturers/dealers who have paid the SOT (provided they possess a letter requesting a demonstration from a law enforcement agency for that specific firearm) or governmental agencies. There are a number of other "transferrable" machine guns that can be possessed by regular joes after ATF approval. These tend to be older designs (made before 19886) and very expensive. The Post-86 sample guns have to be sold or surrendered when the dealer ceases paying the annual $500 SOT or gives up his/her license.

  5.

Then you are welcome to continue running this after market upper on your own gun

Thats the plan for me and pretty much everyone who has every owned a Lage upper.

Exactly! Lage Mfg's gear is of MUCH higher quality than the other pot-metal crap that came with my gun. If I could stick Mr. Lage in a time machine, I'd have him make my Mac lower, too (and pick me up 4 or 5,000 DIAS' and another 10K of HK sears).
