Hello,
I've got a gently used, professionally converted, Red Jacket Saiga 12 that I'd like to sell. I am the only owner and this has been my personal gun. I'm only selling this gun because I recently got a Tromix build.
This professional build was done by Will at Red Jacket on a virgin, unfired IZ109.
It includes the following:
ACE mid-length folding stock with standard folder and 1" recoil pad
Tapco G2 trigger group (very nice trigger on this one)
Ergo AK grip
HK sights
Galil upswept charging handle
Gunfixr gas plug
10 round AGP magazine
Standard Factory stuff including 5-round mag
Red Jacket installed all parts, welded holes, and refinished the gun. The gun meets the required number of US parts.
It has worked beautifully with 5-round factory, 10-round AGP, and MDArms drums.
The gun has been shot and there are two flaws: the barrel has a couple of light scratches and the charging handle finish is dinged from ejected shells. Both could be easily refinished, but they never bothered me.
I'd like $1,200 + $20 shipping to your FFL. US Postal Service Money Orders or Gunpal (+3% to cover the fees they charge me)
Thanks,
Jake

I'm one step closer. Pics pending...no. I didn't ask how much longer.

Sweet wood Juggs! I really like how that looks. Where'd you pick it up?
Jake
P.S. I'm going to a VTAC Night fighter course and won't make the pit.
P.P.S. I'm working on picking up an FN M249 so a pit trip IS planned!

You are fine with a permanently welded barrel extension in MI.
As far as who to contact, you can call the MSP, but you will only get someone's opinion.

I'll throw in my update too. I stopped down at Lage Manufacturing and had my stock replaced with no problems whatsoever. He even noticed a problem with my mag release and replaced that no questions asked. That's top notch customer service. Most importantly I got to handle one of his Top Secret projects It was cool as hell! And very heavy...
Sigourney Weaver knows what you're talking about!!!

I've dealt w/ Mr. Lage and Rumore and both deliver outstanding customer service with innovative and ingenious products. That sort of customer service is beyond expectations and breeds loyalty and long waiting lists for their products. Well done!

mike - i know its a different setup, but Tom clocked the beast at 520 once upon a time.
Bvamp,
A 520 should make it easy to pull singles. Have you shot the 'beast'?
Mike,
Thanks for the update. Looks like you guys are keeping pretty busy!

I saw the most excellent you tube of your full auto saiga and was wondering what the rate of fire was. Is it select fire? Can you pull singles? Why'd you keep the longer barrel?
Enquiring minds want to know!

Many experts on carbine shooting recommend moving the vert. grip foreward as far as possible for more rapid 'driving' of the gun from one target to the next.

I've found ACE gear to be great. I've had problems with them sending me the wrong stuff at times, but I've bought A LOT of their stuff and it is very well made and robust. The push button folders don't lock up as solidly as the 'regular' ones, but they are still good gear. Please contact ACE and I think you'll find they take good care of you.

I really prefer my CAA Grip with the interchangable fronts and rears.... was able to make it fit my hand PERFECTLY
I've got both. The galil grip (the ACE version) is smaller, but nice. I still prefer the Ergo grip, though.

I just about have figured out all the parts I need for conversion but am stuck on the stock. I see the ACE comes in several lengths: 7.5,8.5,9.5. I do not see an overall length listed for the Tromix. I plan on using a button folder and a 1 inch recoil pad if I buy an ACE and a limbsaver if I buy a Tromix.
My main question is will I be better off with a 7.5 inch or 8.5 inch ace stock after adding a recoil pad and folding mechanism?
How long is the original monte carlo stock that comes with the gun?
The 8.5" with the 1" pad and folder is the 'standard' most use on the S12. It provides an excellent LOP for me and is very comfortable. If you are relatively smaller or larger, you may want to adjust. I'm 5'10", BTW.

I had to file A and B and it took about 15 minutes. What took so long? 2 hours? I suspect your jewel's files are to blame.

I agree with the previous posters that both the Tromix and ACE stocks are great stocks. I like the 1" recoil pad available on the ACE stocks, but have an Tromix stock (my friend Richard Lage makes them for Tony) on my M11/Nine subgun. Both work very well and are nicely executed.
As far as folders go, the non-pushbutton ACE folder is the best one I've seen yet. It is rock solid. The main advantage to a folding stock is the space saving with transport and storage. I don't find it all that handy with shooting.

Twinsen,
Rate of fire (ROF) will certainly play a role in how well a mag can feed. A mag that feeds fine in semi auto may not work in full auto depending on the ROF. Keeping up with semi auto is often a different story from keeping up in full auto.
Bvamp,
That ROF seemed much faster than 520 RPM. I'd guess closer to 850.

I lubed my push button ACE folder mechanism and it now is all gritty. It is a step down from their 'regular' folder.

Got mine. Thanks Mike! Above and beyond. Very nicely made piece of kit. I've not had a chance to shoot it yet.

If you're wiggling with the non-push button folder mechanism, something is wrong. I bet the block is loose in your receiver. The push button folder does move a bit.

Mid length stock with 1" ACE recoil pad and folder mechanism makes for a nice length of pull on my gun. That's the length I went for when I did those group buys on Saiga conversion kits and folks seemed to be ok with that LOP.

Mr. Freeze,
Cobra76's excellent thread on converting an S12 addresses the mods needed here:

Excellent write up.
I'd add to the list that converting NOW is a good idea.
The new AW ban that I expect we'll see after the mid term elections COULD make future converting illegal.

Parts you need:
1) Trigger group (G2 is the standard and does require minor mods or buy one already tweaked)
2) Shepherd's crook or Krebs Custom type plate (get the shotgun one if you're doing a shotty)
3) Disconnect spring (you can grab one from your old trigger group, but it's easier to get a new one)
4) Grip nut/bushing (Tapco make one that comes with a full length AK grip screw for about $10; if you go with some of the trigger guards (Tromix or Saigatech), they will have one of these built in)
5) Stock of some sort (I've never tried a factory stock with a converted gun, but it doesn't look like it'd be comfortable; I'm partial to the ACE skeleton with folder mech)
6) Grip (lots of choices, but I'm partial to the ACE galil and the Ergo)
I'm probably forgetting something, but that will cover most of what you need to do a basic and legal conversion.

Any full auto tests for the MD20 out there?

Mike,
What is the rate of fire of your FA gun? Can you pull singles?
