  1. Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig is awesome, because I sit and drive quite a bit, it's also got the extra mag pouches which is nice considering the 1911 capacity. I also use a serpa when I can wear a jacket, and I've got a bianchi 100 series that gets used here and there. Those Alien gear holsters look like they might be added to my collection next though...

  2. Made an order through Apex for one of their mag specials ($90 for 10), yugo mag and yugo bayonet with grenade launcher. On the mags were some cool markings:

This one has what looks like the Romy "not so Izhmash" arrow in triangle stamp, and another curious square with something inside it.

This was the worst of the bunch. Looks like someone with sweaty (or bloody?) fingerprints got a hold of it. Still very useable, I expected them all to be like this or worse.

this one has the numbers: 72  2 stamped into the top, never seen anything like that before.

"47" stamped into the floorplate on this guy, doesn't look like battlefield art, but again: never seen something like that either.

the whole lot, a helluva deal at $9 a pop plus shipping.

this is one of the names(?) that were scratched into one of the mags. It reads: X-O (with a line through it)- n (?) -2(?)  Xon2, or maybe Xony/Xong?

Couldnt get a good picture of this one, but it reads something along the lines of: BEBL or BEAL (?)

What appears to be a never used Grenade launcher adaptor, cleaned up nice after a scalding water bath, and it'll probably stay 'never used', another cool accessory to sit in a back closet somewhere.

Also included with the grenade launcher/yugo mag package was this cosmo covered bayonet which also cleaned up nice

so if anyone was on the fence about it, I'd say go for it

  3. I've been using and abusing the hell outta my Ryobi one+ 18v set for close to 7 years now. I've burned out 2 of the cheap batteries and I feel like I'm getting close to the end of the lifespan of the Li-Ion one (although not 100%, it could be the freezing weather messing with it). The tools themselves have taken quite a beating over the years. I was hesitant to buy such a "cheap" setup at first too, but I really don't have any complaints. I thought I finally killed the recip-saw last year when a bunch of metal shavings blew into the vent holes, but ripped it apart, shook them out and I wouldn't be surprised to get another 7 years out of it.

I also like seeing new ideas sprout up. I also like the idea, but there are already at least 3 solutions to the "no rail" problem. Price doesn't seem to be too bad for someone wanting to toy with it, I've spend more on some holsters I don't even use.

You can already: Hold a light, have a rail mechanically attached to your pistol, or have some forethought and buy a 1911 with an integral rail, or use the excuse to buy ANOTHER 1911.

Again: innovation is good, but I'll keep my un-railed 1911.
