  1. I made mine from a AK trigger guard, just like sKott did. Mine looks exactly like his does. Just took a regular AK guard, cut it with a Dremel and filed it to shape and smoothness. This is how the original Saiga 12 shotgun's triggerguards were made. Here's a picture of an original Saiga 12:

  2. Doug Ford (Tantal's) is one of the best guy's I've ever had the pleasure to do business with. I've got a fair amout of stuff from him including a Kobra. He's a great source of information, stands by his products, and just an overall good guy. He's one of the few people that I'd pay a little more to buy from if neccessary just to deal with rather than an unknown (and I'm a tight ass in general). if nothing else, cruise his site, lots of good info. Also a factory aauthorized dealer.

+1 for Doug Ford!! Good guy to do business with.

  3. Anyone seen these? They are russian-style folding stocks that are assembled into a "block" that fits into the receiver and uses screws to attach them, just like a Romanian side-folder! You leave the original rear trunion in place, and looks like there's a latch built into the block to keep the stock locked when it's folded. It doesn't look as good as the original folder that comes on the original guns, but it would have a longer length of pull and you could remove it at any time. What do you guys think? Looks pretty neat to me!! With the U.S. mags, fire control group and a U.S. made pistolgrip, you'd be compliant. Here's the stock:

  4. I knew that I had read somewhere that some of the original Saigas wouldn't fire with the stock closed due to Russian laws. Turns out that these are the short-barreled Saigas that are made to be sold in Russia. Seems Russia has a law on overall length and with the stock folded, it's too short, so the gun is setup to be inoperable when the stock is folded. When the stock is unfolded, it becomes operable~if only things were this easy in America! All is explained in the second paragraph of info at this website: World Weapon Directory. AKATTACK

  5. Looks good! I didn't use a pistolgrip reinforcement plate, I don't think that these were used on the original Saiga 12s. Probably wouldn't hurt to use one if you are installing a folding stock on your Saiga and plan on shooting it with the stock folded, the plate is supposed to keep the receiver from cracking around the pistolgrip nut hole. From what I can remember, this is not a problem with the original Saiga, because it has a mechanism in place that prevents it from being fired while the stock is folded. I believe that is because of a law in Russia, if I remember correctly. Can any of you guys with original Saiga 12s confirm this? AKATTACK

Ohhh, an original will fire with the stock folded just fine! LOL!

Thanks K1196A, I wasn't sure. I was hoping that someone would chime in and let us know. AKATTACK

  7. Any of you senior members remember the guy that lived in the Florida Everglades that posted the pics of the Saiga that he had fitted into the bullpup stock? He posted pics of his solution to the deformation problem. What he did was he used epoxy to "fill-in" the front of the shell-the area in front of the disk. The epoxy hardened and provided strength to the front of the shell, this kept it from deforming and upon firing, the epoxy was supposed to be expelled just like/along with the disk. He also noted to NOT use this method on the crimped shotgun shells, ONLY use it on the shells with the disk in the front, sush as S&B(Sellior and Bellot). The crimped shells can't expand properly when the epoxy is used-potentially dangerous. I don't know if this process works or is safe, but it might be something to try, just thought I'd throw it out here for discussion. I might have pics saved if anyone wants to see them. I'd have to dig them up, let me know-AKATTACK

  8. I had mostly lost my enthusiasm for my Saiga 12 because I don't have any mags over 5 rounds. I kept checking back to see how this was going and I must say that I feel the fever coming back!! Thanks for the good work and dedication to make this happen!! AKATTACK

  9. Anyone know of another source, besides K-VAR, for the Bulgarian buttstock pads? I've got a friend who is in need of one. K-VAR is sold out for the time being. Here's what he needs:buttplate005b.jpg Thanks in advance-AKATTACK

  10. 1. Here's a link to the letter from the B.A.T.F.E. to Wes at Soupbowl Enterprises when he inquired about the legal parts count of several imported firearms. Notice that the Saiga shotguns are listed as "H" in the right-hand column, followed by the numbers that correspond with the list of parts on the left-hand side. B.A.T.F.E. LETTER

    2. The Saigas are already made to take the single-hook triggers, but there's not much you have to do to make them accept a double-hook. You just have to make another notch on the other side of the front of the trigger opening. I'd just go with a single.

    3. The Saigas have a stamped receiver.

  11. He's referring to the Bush Sr.'s non-sporting import gun ban of 1989, but I'm not certain that this law was what prohibited the importation of these particular configurations of weapons from being imported. I'll have to do some research. AKATTACK
