  1. Some of them have built in night sights.
All the Yugo AKs are supposed to have them.

By the time the parts kits got to us, most of the tritium in them have gone bye-bye. . . .

    Nope

    http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34863

I myself have had a few with painted sights. These are generally early versions. I've since sold off the rifles or kits with painted sights and kept the tritium versions. In many cases, yes the tritium is spent.

  2. Zastava. Known to most as the Yugo's. Now what's the definition of best?

Receiver stamped. If we're talking quality, then milled is better but from a war standpoint, best is production! Receiver is 1.5mm as opposed to the others at 1mm. No problem the M70's are made both stamped and milled. Bores not chrome lined, little higher on the accuracy level but at the cost of corrosion.

Some of them have built in night sights.

All have the flip up gas shut off for launching grenades.

The man himself said the Yugo's are the best around. That counts for something...

My collection is made up of variety and most of the other AK's feel like airsoft compared to the M70. I have both the B1 and AB2. My favorites.

  3. Hi

Having a few issues with an Eotech sight. With the sight mounted I really like the sight picture, but every time I shoot the gun I get a failed to eject, the cartridge hanging out off the ejection port.Remove the sight and everything is back to normal.I suspect that the cases are actually hitting the sight as they are being ejected and held up.I have tried moving the sight forward and aft but to no avail. My gun is a European spec Swat model which has the rail rivetted directly to the hinged receiver cover. This means the sight sits really low to the gun and directly on the centreline ,which is good, but is obviously too low to avoid interfering with the ejection sequence.I do have a side attached rail (BP-02),but with the rail on the top of the receiver there is not enough clearance to mount it.

Should I give up on the Eotech (which I really like) and try a smaller sight -any suggestions??

Or should I drill off the receiver cover mount and try the side rail mount, which will move the sight up about 1/2" and hopefully stop the FTE's.

What if you added rail that clamps on the existing rail to elevate the sight a bit? It will sit a little higher, but should move the sight out of the way enough. I guess that's the down side of bolting US sights on AK type weapons.

  4. Almost brand new! I never used these other than putting them on the rifle. Excellent condition and includes the 12 removeable polymere pieces. Bipod is in excellent shape as well and also comes with a swivel sling adapter for a rifle without a rail system. 70.00 OBO for both. I think that is a fair price because it includes shipping. Money Order or 3.5% Paypal.

    Thanks for looking!

I'll give you a best offer of $60 shipped, payment of your choice.

  5. I saw that a while back. Pretty interesting. Then it seemed to have dropped off their web page for a while but now it pulls back up.

3 forward quad rails with a smooth rear gripping area. It looks a bit simplistic and blocky in the CAD drawing. I am eager to see what an actual sample looks like mounted on a shotgun.

Yeah that CAD drawing doesn't make it look too awesome. I think it's going to look pretty good in person.

No idea on preorder amount or cut off date. He did say he had a lot of preorders so far which is good considering I haven't seen too much talk about it, but I'm hoping the power of the saiga 12 forum can generate more interest and get the project flowing.

Will: Yes that's for the s12, but there is also a rifle version that will be made pending the interest.

  6. I was going to put a roof mount in my car to keep one overhead but a good post I read kept me from doing it. The breakdown of it was:

A guy has a rifle in the window of his truck. A car behind him slows down as the guy parks in his driveway. The car sits there a second and drives away. A week or so later someone broke into his house and a bunch of guns were stolen. I'm just as well off taping $100 bills to my rear window.

  7. Gilbert's is taking pre orders on the Saiga forearm. This is made by "SGM" (Surefire gun mags, not to be confused with surefire) if they receive enough interest (preorders), they will go into production. They should be receiving a sample within the next couple days, and will be shooting pictures of it. They have them listed for both 12GA and rifle.

I received an email today from them as I had a few questions.

"We have toyed around with the type of finish, and the glass

content of the unit to produce an outstanding finished product. We are all

very excited about this product, and you will see new pics very , very soon."

They have a large quantity of preorders so far but every bit helps! The Russian forearm if you can find one is around $55, and gives you the one lower rail. The Halo is anywhere from $250-350.

$79.99 aint too bad considering! I'm looking forward to it.

  8. I am thinking of doing a AK trigger guard on my S12. My latch is not held on with 4 rivets like my s7.62. SI would need to drill holes and hope the catch lines up right? Any of you guys done this? Where is a good place to find complete bulgarian trigger guards /Latch/and selector stop? I found some new guards with no latch hole drilled. I would think getting that spring in is a PAIN!

    Thanks

    Ralph

You wouldn't need the latch, or spring. You just need a guard and selector stop. There are a couple pics on the site that show what it looks like. I know I posted one in the "lets see your s12" thread.

  9. lammy... how did the rustoleom work for you? i painted a few mags and while it looks nice.. it "bleeds" it's got this powdery residue that just keeps coming off.

i painted then baked. (300 degrees. an hour)

My reply is a bit late but what I do on certain builds is spray the Rustoleum textured, bake it and when it's cold I'll rub the finish with a cotton rag and oil. The finish will absorb a lot of oil. I never bake in the house, as I have a toaster oven in the shop just for this reason. It works well and holds better than a lot of foreign mil finishes. I use the textured stuff because it's the closest thing I have found to original bulgarian paint. There are a few gun paints out there and some work good, some suck. Usually I will mask off the barrel and paint just the receiver, trunnion, and rivets and it matches the rest of the parts... It's that close! Just used it on a krink kit, receiver only and you can't tell. Reports from other builders is that it stands up to some of the nastier gun cleaners out there too. The 300 for and hour should be good, just make sure your prep is good too. The only thing I can't say is how well it would stand up to sustained fire on the barrel. I know bulgarian paint doesn't like it.

I learned about this from another forum, and I have not really heard bad things about it. (From people that used the above method)

  10. bla bla bla bla....kind of like you complaining here in the VIDEO thread you mean?

The difference between me and a lot of people is I offer a possible suggestion in my post, like maybe just a locked updated sticky not just a dickhead reply. My post was a reply to what was said, just like yours...

Seriously... I just suggest a locked sticky at the top that is an easy solution so people don't have to sift through a pile of crap, let alone keep Mike from sifting through the same crap emails and it's "blah blah blah" to you. I think Mike my appreciate it a little at least.

  11. I understand your concern. Seems here people jump down most anyones throat who questions something. I must have misread somewhere. I thought I'd be billed the second half when they were pretty much ready to ship. You have to look at this business practice a little different, as you're part customer, part small profit investor. This "If you don't like it get the fuck out" attitude is lame.

That's not the problem at all.

For most of us here, it is a problem of people making either their very first post, or first post in a long time, a flame on MD Arms business practices or a complaint about the drum WITHOUT bothering to read the vast amount of information that has been posted in these forums on the subject first!

Damn that was a long sentence.......

Everything has been explained in excruciating detail.

All a person has to do is READ and virtually all of their questions will be answered.

The problem is right in your reply. There IS a vast amount of information and there doesn't need to be. The info thread is currently at 576 replys, and "Please read post # 430 in this thread for most resent update. Thanks!" WOW!

Either way a lesson is to be learned here. I think a locked sticky for Mike should be used in the future. There is no need for us to reply on a production status thread. Just a single post with a dated status, whats going on, etc. for those guys who are worried why nothing has shown up after they were auto deducted the 2nd payment quite a while back. That 2nd payment should have been done when the product was in hand, regardless when they are actually molded. Personally, I don't care. I've paid in full, I don't mind waiting for mine, and I'm looking forward to using it. It's just a bit overwhelming all these topics and replies over one product and half of them are "Where's my stuff?". The other half is "Read the fucking information!"

  12. I like the rail on these, but it's missing the feature I want on a foreend. It doesn't have rails on the side for a light. It wouldn't have to be a long one, and for me it would only have to be on the right side, but if I buy a foreend it's going to have a provision for a light on the side. I know I can add one, but that defeats the purpose of buy a new one.

There are other rails that will do what you're looking for. These are the real original Russian forends, and a light is often mounted on this lower rail. It doesn't have to be on the side.

  13. Let me ask you all this. Have you ever had to wait this long for any other product that you already paid for?????

Mike seems like a nice guy, but the reality is, I don't know him. If he has production problems, family emergency, whatever and doesn't produce, we are all ass out. So excuse my concern. Guess next time I order from any of the million places I order from and they charge my card and it doesn't come I should just "chill" instead of inquiring.....

The other issue is Mike has not responded to any of my emails and hasn't responded here.

I am willing to risk my money on him and a new product, but for something close to $200 dollars I don't believe some simple communication is out of the question.

  14. You know if you don't like the promptness of their service that's fine, but you are just as much saying screw your customers as you are the halo guys with remarks like "change your order", "cancel your order", and provide your own.... What exactly is a "reasonable time frame" when people are waiting over a year for your own builds?

Due to the inability of HALO to deliver hand guards in any sort of reasonable time frame, I am discontinuing the Tromix S05. If you have one on order with me, you can either cancel your order, change your order, or provide the HALO hand guard for your build. I will no longer screw with it.

If this pisses you off, call Brian at 503 510-0091 and chew his ass.

  15. I've had a couple unissued german pouches that looked pretty long. Possibly for 40rnd mags? Anyway they are a little tight, but look like with some alteration, they would fit 12rd s12 mags. I'll need to add about 2" to the top flap for it to catch. I may cut one up for the material.

Also I like German stuff, but I'm not really crazy about rain pattern camo. Will Rit dye fix it?

I found the mags fit better the other way in because of the flared end.
