  1. We ARE the militia. The right to keep and bear arms is GOD given, the Constitution only aknowliges that it exists.

Looking at the Xcript of the hearing, it looks like 5 to 2 as an individual right, and 4 to 3 that any restriction must meet strict standards of review.

That's what I was insinuating. I'm not actively involved in a militia so to speak, but I do have a pretty tight knit group of friends that I shoot with on a regular basis.

I don't really know what constitutes a "god given" right, but I do feel that the founding fathers expressly outlined my right in this country to own as many firearms as I so desire.

  2. Thanks for the reply. I'd never heard of the Sten .303, but I had heard of a Enfield. He said you had to cut the top of the mag where the rounds feed into the gun (don't know what it's called) to allow it to accept the 12 gauge shells. Then you have to cut the mag catch tab off and re-weld it to a position comparable to the factory magazine.

It could have been crazy talk, interested to hear more opinions.

  3. Similar to Racegal20, I'm interested to know how anyone could argue that the second amendment protects a militia's right to be armed, but not an individual. Doesn't a militia consist of individuals? The National Guard, which I imagine is the closest thing we have today to a militia, aside from the ultra-right wing or racist "militias," doesn't require you to provide your own weapon, I'm pretty sure they issue you one, right?

  4. I went to the gun show this weekend, I took my S12 and everyone tried to buy it off of me, which was pretty awesome to know that I have something that is going to be rare someday. I was talking to this one guy about it, and he said you could take a Sten (I guess that's how you spell it) .303 double stack magazine, do a bit of cutting and welding, and that it would hold ten 12 gauge shells single stacked and fit in a Saiga 12. Additionally, he said that I could get 10 of them for around $100. Now, I realize that it will compromise my compliance, but I guess I could just add some more US parts to counteract it.

I did a search on here, and didn't find anything, so he could have just been blowing smoke. Thoughts?

  5. If they want to be technical, which by way of their idiotic adherence to the lettering of the law only and not the (supposed) intended spirit, then the guy didn't transfer a machine gun. When he gave it to his friend it would only fire one round per trigger pull. His FRIEND fired 800 more rounds and then it malfunctioned. His FRIEND then gave the gun BACK to the guy, the friend would by strict interpretation be guilty of the transfer.

Holy shit dude. Good call. You should go to law school if you haven't already.

  6. Y'all do know that St. Patrick's Day is on March 17th, right?

I've got no issues with celebrating for 3 or 4 days straight, I would do it if I didn't have to work.

Yep. 17th of March every Year.

But hey. If they are drunk already and think it's St. Pat's. I'll give em a cheers!

    LOL

That's what I was thinking, haha. Unfortunately my St. Patty's day will be marred by a funeral for a friend of mine in the morning, and then 11 hours at work. BUT, I have pledged to start drinking at work around 3pm, so I'll be good and sauced by the time I get off at 9. Then I'll go to some bars, and pass out somewhere, hopefully at home. I'm going to where my shirt that says "fight me, I'm Irish."

Tuesday will definitely be a stone cold bitch.

  7. I just got done watching parts 1-7 of the youtube video, and I can now say that I'm totally confident in my ability to do this. As stated above, anyone who has any reservations about doing this themselves needs to watch that video, even though you can't see exactly what's going on sometimes (in the video), it was a lot easier for me to figure out what I need to do, as opposed to the picture/text tutorials I had read. I'm going to go on and buy all the stuff I need when I get my check tomorrow. I'm fucking stoked.

  8. I may be new to this site, however I am not new to firearms, Commerce or Saiga's but $1900...medic.

PT Barnum said it best "A fool and his money are soon parted"

    He also said this.

    PRESERVE YOUR INTEGRITY

It is more precious than diamonds or rubies. The old miser said

to his sons: "Get money; get it honestly, if you can, but get

money." This advice was not only atrociously wicked, but it

was the very essence of stupidity. It was as much as to say,

"if you find it difficult to obtain money honestly, you can

easily get it dishonestly. Get it in that way." Poor fool! Not

to know that the most difficult thing in life is to make money

dishonestly! not to know that our prisons are full of men who

attempted to follow this advice; not to understand that no man

can be dishonest, without soon being found out, and that when

his lack of principle is discovered, nearly every avenue to

success is closed against him forever. The public very properly

shun all whose integrity is doubted. No matter how polite and

pleasant and accommodating a man may be, none of us dare to

deal with him if we suspect "false weights and measures."

Strict honesty, not only lies at the foundation of all success

in life (financially), but in every other respect.

Uncompromising integrity of character is invaluable. It secures

to its possessor a peace and joy which cannot be attained

without it--which no amount of money, or houses and lands can

purchase. A man who is known to be strictly honest, may be ever

so poor, but he has the purses of all the community at his

disposal--for all know that if he promises to return what he

borrows, he will never disappoint them. As a mere matter of

selfishness, therefore, if a man had no higher motive for being

honest, all will find that the maxim of Dr. Franklin can never

fail to be true, that "honesty is the best policy."

To get rich, is not always equivalent to being successful.

"There are many rich poor men," while there are many others,

honest and devout men and women, who have never possessed so

much money as some rich persons squander in a week, but who are

nevertheless really richer and happier than any man can ever be

while he is a transgressor of the higher laws of his being.

The inordinate love of money, no doubt, may be and is "the root

of all evil," but money itself, when properly used, is not only

a "handy thing to have in the house," but affords the

gratification of blessing our race by enabling its possessor to

enlarge the scope of human happiness and human influence. The

desire for wealth is nearly universal, and none can say it is

not laudable, provided the possessor of it accepts its

responsibilities, and uses it as a friend to humanity.

The history of money-getting, which is commerce, is a history

of civilization, and wherever trade has flourished most, there,

too, have art and science produced the noblest fruits. In fact,

as a general thing, money-getters are the benefactors of our

race. To them, in a great measure, are we indebted for our

institutions of learning and of art, our academies, colleges

and churches. It is no argument against the desire for, or the

possession of, wealth, to say that there are sometimes misers

who hoard money only for the sake of hoarding and who have no

higher aspiration than to grasp everything which comes within

their reach. As we have sometimes hypocrites in religion, and

demagogues in politics, so there are occasionally misers among

money-getters. These, however, are only exceptions to the

general rule. But when, in this country, we find such a

nuisance and stumbling block as a miser, we remember with

gratitude that in America we have no laws of primogeniture, and

that in the due course of nature the time will come when the

hoarded dust will be scattered for the benefit of mankind. To

all men and women, therefore, do I conscientiously say, make

money honestly, and not otherwise, for Shakespeare has truly

said, "He that wants money, means, and content, is without

    three good friends."

    TLNR.

But back on topic, I guess y'all are right, something is only worth what someone will pay for it. So if someone will pay a ridiculous amount for a gun that (to us) isn't worth it, then it must be worth it.

  9. Well, as far as the prices of the actual guns are concerned, aside from full-auto class 3 guns, it seems to me like this is the best it's ever been. I used to hear about back in the day (early 80's) when you could get AK's for about $200. If you think about it, the fact that you can get a saiga 7.62 for less than $300, or hell, pretty much any AK for less than $600, is pretty decent, considering and factoring in inflation.

I'm not debating the fact that ammunition is definitely getting more expensive, but the reasons for this I can't pinpoint. It seems like it's almost as expensive to load your own ammo as it is to buy it, but then again, I haven't really looked that deep into self loading and what not. I really need to though.

Another funny thing that I smile about is the fact that we have all these AK "pistols" floating around, which is going to totally wrench any kind of legislation regarding so-called "assault rifles." Just think about the whole idea of these sporter rifles being imported. "Nah, it's not an assault rifle, it doesn't have a pistol grip and it comes with a 5 (or 10) round magazine." Think about the fact that an AK pistol is classified as a pistol, that's golden. Before the AWB of 1994, as far as I know, there were no AK pistols. The implementation of that legislation made people hungry for things that they weren't allowed to have, and as a result there is another loophole for lawmakers to contend with.

I don't know what I'm really getting at, at this point, but I do feel like I am being compelled by an external influence to purchase as many guns as I possibly can, under the impression that I will not be able to get them in a couple of years. Whether or not this is true, I don't know.

I guess you're better safe than sorry. :smoke:

  10. those guys do some nice work.

I may have. Im kind of focusing on my own partnerships and such, to answer your questions closer, any more. I found a couple of guys that I can shake hands with and not have to pray at the end of the day, so whatever.

You get SOMETHING when you pay that much......instead of bitching why dont you OOGLE and ask WHAT IS IT? IT CANT BE JUST LETTERING JOBS!?!?!!??

bitch all you want. you pay for workmanship. the saiga-12 is skyrocketing in price, too. O WELL.

I edited some out, but you all hold me to it, so I will back what I originally said.

you people are like little girls sometimes, ya know that?

The MAK90 never failed me, it always shot and functioned great. Hell, I'm shooting through a century underfolder right now, I've got no complaints, but then again, I really don't have that much experience with guns in general, in a grand scheme. I do know that I can hit a 12" plate a 100 yards pretty consistently with my shitty century ak iron sights, so I must me doing something right.

  11. I started getting into guns around 2002, but as far as I can remember, it wasn't really that bad. Shit, I got a norinco MAK90 sporter back then for $400, now it seems like you've got to drop atleast $450 on a yugo these days. The only thing that really affected me with the 1994 AWB was buying magazine for my pistol, $120 for a factory glock 23 13 round mag was ridiculous. But other than that, it was just symbolic, as far as I could tell. I could be wrong and or naive, I don't know.

  12. actually, they are first rate. dunno if I agree with thier pricing, but they were shot down before this forum could get in contact with them about thier work. it was unfortunate, really, and an accident, is the best way to explain it.

I don't understand. What does that mean? They're selling a $400 gun with no more than $200 worth of parts and about 6 hours of work for $1900.

  13. I knew there had to be a metric shit ton of car guys on here. Every car that has been displayed is fucking awesome, though my personal favorite is the old green F-body. I've gotta get out and get some pics of my sentra, it doesn't really fit the mold of the rest of the cars posted (aside from the Scooby, BTW is that a 2.5 RS or a WRX?), but it looks pretty decent.
