  1. ClickClickD'oh, Am not really worried about the 922r compliance issue at this time after reading the most recent posts in the 922r Compliance section of this forum. Anyway, I do have a SureFire Mag which I guess counts for 3 parts and puts me in compliance, or does it? Thanks-by the way where are you in Texas? I am from El Paso.
  2. OK, can a pistol grip be added to the original Saiga buttstock?
  3. After reading the 922r Compliance section, it appears that there is some controversy and difference of opinion as to the hi-cap magazines legality on an unconverted Saiga .308. My question: Can just a pistol guard and buttstock be added without any further conversion as far as the trigger group, etc is concerned? I really don't find that much fault with the stock trigger anyways
  4. Apparently what I bought was a quick-release scope via a lever. To tighten the scope mount to the Saiga side mount you have to adjust a screw on the lever. Once I took some pliers to it-no more problem. It will take a cutting torch to remove it now!!! I shot it again today with no further problems.
  5. I was able to get it tight by making the adjustment you advised. However, I am not happy with this arrangement and will be ordering the mount from CTD which tightens via 3 Allen head screws. I don't plan on taking the scope off that often and the inconvenience of using an Allen wrench is inconsequential to me. Thanks
  6. I purchased a scope mount for my .308 yesterday along with a cheapie Simmons scope. Today I took it to the range to get it sighted in. While getting it sighted in the scope mount fell off. I guess the vibrations from the shooting must have loosened it where it attaches to the side mount. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance. I love shooting the .308-the recoil isn't as bad as I thought it would be and once I got it sighted in, was getting some nice groups-all within the bullseye and next circle. If I could only get this scope mount problem fixed.
  7. I ordered the Tapco G2 Single Hook trigger but am now having second thoughts. What is the difference between the Tapco G2 Single Hook and Red Star trigger group? Is the Red Star better? Easier to install? I have the Model IZ139-thanks
  8. I am still looking for that forum but decided to stick it out here for the time-being. I realize I was being unrealistic but I was tired and wanted to get the rifle reassembled before I went to bed. My apologies to the group!!! +1, any luck finding that new forum?
  9. I am located in El Paso, Texas. Anyone here from El Paso who would be willing to help me out? Thanks
  10. I see some buttstocks with 1.25' Extended Nato length. Should I stick with regular length or extended? Pros and cons for each one?
  11. Nalioth, Thanks for the info. Can you provide some links where I can check out what is offered?
  12. I like the rifle stocks-is there another rifle stock that would work with a pistol grip? Or do I need to go to a collapsible stock? Thanks for all of the input and recommendations.
  13. I just got a Saiga .308 IZ139-NIB. I would like to add a pistol grip and Tapco G2 trigger. Can I retain the stock if I add a pistol grip or do I have to get another stock? Tapco makes 2 wire retaining springs-a regular spring and n L-shaped retaining spring. Does the L-shape have an advantage over the regular spring? Which pistol grip is the pistol grip of choice on this forum and where can I buy it? Is my model a single or double hook model as far as the trigger group is concerned? Is a Tapco retaining plate recommended? This will do for starters. Thanks
  14. For an unconverted rifle-brand new out of the box!
  15. Success at last!!!! Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped this "mechanically dumb" newbie. So now that I can now field strip and reassemble the rifle, how easy is it going to be to install a Tapco G2 FCG?
  16. 747Mech, Thanks for the help. Was finally able to figure it out as far as the b.olt is concerned. Now how do I get the cover over the rear tab? The tab is sitting too low for the opening in the cover. What is the trick to get the tab to go inside the hole?
  17. Six views and no one can help me reassemble my rifle. I thought this forum was supposed to be helpful-I guess not. Will look for another solution and another forum. Bye
  18. I was able to field strip the .308-no problem. However, I am now having problems reassembling it. I can't figure out how the inner bolt is positioned in the main bolt. No matter how I position it-can't get it to fit. Can someone supply a picture of how it is positioned? I am a newbie and things like this don't come easy to me. Thanks
  19. I checked out one of his posts here on the forum and it appears he doesn't work on customer-supplied rifles. So much for that avenue.
  20. I just did a search for Saiga conversions and found this link: http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/index.htm. After persuing several steps of the work involved, I have decided it is much to difficult for a newbie-especially the work involving the removing and replacing the trigger. Guess I will shoot it stock for the time-being. Is there any company or person that does these conversions and is proficient at it and can guarantee the work? Thanks
  21. I just took possession of the above Saiga .308. I have been reading about converting it but am a newbie to all of this and have no idea as to how to get started, what to buy, or where to buy it at the best price. What would be the basic components to buy to get started? How easy or difficult is it to install the components? I don't want to mess up my rifle but do want it to look like an AK47. Thanks for any help or comments. Perhaps the Administrator could write a primer for newbies or provide links for that kind of information.
  22. Just ordered some Barnaul from ATG (Ammunition to Go) for $39.95 for 100 rds.
  23. Eugene Onegin, Thanks for the photo. Did Eastwave provide you with all of the mounting hardware for the scope or did you have to buy it? What additional hardware is required to mount the scope?\ The_Vigilante El Paso, Texas
  24. Guido2, Thanks for the tip. Will check Ebay for prices. The_Vigilante El Paso, Texas
