From the album: Reloading
More thanks to MsrDiver. this shot shows how nicely the slightly undersize Remington #4 Buck will pour into the shell. About every 6th shell will need you to poke a probe or finger in there to shift a pellet to the edge. If the center pellet is sitting on top of the others, I poke it down with a finger or dowell, and it will pop under the outer 5 with a click. No tedious stacking for me. -
From the album: Reloading
Thanks to MsrDiver for most of the wads shown, and lots of advice. According to the concensus on the cast bullets forum, smoothbore shooters benefit from a 20 ga overshot card or a nitro card under the drive key to keep it from digging into the wad. This is to ensure cleaner seperation. The key is intended to bite into the wad so that the slug will turn with the wad when fired through a rifled barrel or choke, as well as to spread out the force on the wad. Lee 1 oz shown, but I bellieve the 7/8 oz slug has the same external dimension and profile. I hope this helps some fellow novices.
