ppro 0
I seem to remember reading something about the trunion and receiver strength of the Saiga, is similar to the Russian RPK., or at least the ROMAK version of the RPK.........but I could be confusing all this with the Vepr and Super Vepr trunion and receiver which I know IS heavy on the order of the RPK. S0oooo....... what's the relative strength of the Saiga trunion and receiver...by comparison ...Is it any different in the different models or pretty much the same across the board (.223, 7.62x39 and .308 Saiga versions) and do these differ much from the other variants? Is it heavier and more substantial....? Or, is the Saiga trunion and receiver about like the Yugo and Romanian AK......didn't think so, but wondered. I posted this in the 7.62x39 section, but no one attempted to answer so I thought I better try here in the general section. thanks Paul
BattleRifleG3 16
All Saiga receivers are slightly thicker than AKM, but not as thick as RPK. The VEPR series is based on the RPK. Saiga X39, 223, and 410 have trunions pretty close to AKM trunion strength. Saiga 308 has a thicker trunion that matches a 3 lug bolt vs the standard 2 lugs. Saigas 12 and 20 have a very different trunions, not sure they're stronger but definitely wider as suits the wider bolt face.
