I was readn' up on the Kel Tec PLR-16 pistol 5.56mm. Sounds as it takes the same mags as AR15 / M16. They can be had for less than $500.00.

This pistol also reads to be quite accurate.

Since I already have a Saiga .223 / 5.56, I think this pistol might be a good addition for general plinkn' or for SHTF situations. Just wish mags were interchangeable.

Thanks 4 any valued opinions :super:

They are fun to shoot! pretty accurate for a pistol. Reliable with any ammo. I have heard that Kel-Tec has great customer service as well.

It would not be the ideal weapon for home defense in my opinion. With the .223 / 5.56 ammo I would use a 16" barrel to gain more velocity to achieve fragmentation.

Tech, the PLR-16 is a ton of fun! You might not want to use it for HD though. It is loud! It would certainly do the job, but your ears would bleed...lol. If you get it you won't be disappointed. The compact fore end is a must. Makes it much easier to hold, provides bottom rail for bipod, and looks very cool. I added the sling, a birdcage flash hider and an ADCO Solo reflex sight. Lots of firepower in a pistol, and I can slip it into my leather laptop case. :smoke:
