chris410 0
Can anyone tell me how to remove the handguards and gas tube on my WASR? Do I need a gunsmith? Does anyone know of any good sites with AK disassembly pics etc.?
RooK 0
Handguards I'm not sure, since my Saiga has the politically correct screwed in kind. The gas tube on the other hand is simple. Just remove the bolt/gas piston from the gun, lift the lever on the right of the rear sight base until it's vertical, then grip the gas tube assembly pull back toward the receiver and up. chris410 0
How about the gas tube on the saiga 410?
KySoldier 2
chris410: Hanguards and gas tube on an AK come off real easy. Flip the lever next to the rear sight, once it's as the right angle, the gas tube will lift out. To get haunguard off the tube, twist it upside down and pull off. For the bottom handguard, look at the front of it where it is held in place by a bracket om the barrel. There is a small lever there, lift it up, will likely require a little effort, then the bracket will be free to move about the barrel and the lower hanguard can come off. As for the saiga, I don't know, hadn't taken mine off my S-12 and its locked up right now.
J A 0
Click on the "how to change handguards" link for that page of my web pages. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jfreeman246/index.htm
chris410 0
Thanks guys, its actually real easy. I am toying with the idea of putting a AK forend on my 410. I've seen the thread here with the 410 SAIGA converted to AK configuration, looks sick!!!
