Nameless_Hobo 0
Has anyone accomplished this legally? I realize that it would be cheaper to just convert it to a real AK, but, I'd like to be able to put it in it's original form if I decide to. The AK has 14 on-list parts without a muzzle device, if I'm correct. The stock and pistol grip should count as two parts, even though they're one "unit," correct? Then a Tapco piston and forend should bring the parts count to 10? Finally, if I do end up needing more parts, can you replace the hammer or sear on the Saiga with USA made one for a standard AK? And, can these parts be bought seperatly somewhere? I can only find kits that include hammer, trigger and sear. I just wanted to make sure I'm right in my thinking, it's better to be safe than put in prison by ATFbots.
nalioth 405
The Saiga rifle has 14 countable parts from the factory, but you're adding 1 part with the pistol grip. The stock and pistol grip are 2 parts The tapco handguard and piston are another 2 parts You'll need to drop a hammer or disconnector into the FCG to be compliant. Adding a muzzle device would take you to 16 countable parts.
