wkt60 0
Gentlemen, This will be my first shotgun purchase, found a 24" Saiga 12 in stock. Can I have this cut down to 18" & set up to use the polychoke? What is involved? Looks like it just comes stock with a thread protector on the end of the barrel . I would possibly like to use in 3-Gun comp sometime in the future. Thanks for your help & the great forum

So many people looking for them to hunt with and so few to be had. The 19 is more common and would make a better candidate for cutting. Cutting down and rethreading should not be a problem, the choke just screws onto the barrel in the same fashion as the factory chokes do.
scoutjoe 276
There might be an issue if you cut it down that much depending on how many gas ports are with that gun. Some of the 22" barrels only have 3 ports where the 19" has 4 ports. I would suspect that the 24" would have 3 ports and might have problems with lighter birdshot loads IMHO. shaneman153a 39
Yep, there was extensive info on overboring the holes on this board back when they used to be more common. If you do a search, you should be able to find the info you need. Very rarely did someone cut a 24" and NOT have to either drill an extra hole, or drill them bigger.
