The safty is also smooth enough to engage it to the open bolt postioning with your index finger. The extension for your index finger is also checkered for a positive grip or glove usage. It swaps out as easily as any AK safety lever: Clear the action, remove the receiver cover, rotate the safety lever up until it's vertical, pull/remove to the right.
