Does Saiga .308 need bullet guide after conversion?

Hello, I have been searching and reading a lot about converting Saigas, but I want to convert a .308 in particular. I am very confident with every step of the conversion process except for the bullet guide/feed ramp. I have heard that you do not need a bullet guide if you are using SureFire 20 or 25 round mags. But I am restricted to 10 rounds in California. So if I am using the standard 8 round mags do I need a bullet guide?

The only reason to add a bullet guide is because you are using mags that require it. I've only used factory & Surefire mags, but neither of them require a bullet guide.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping. Just wanted to make sure that I don't need to go through this step because it looks pretty difficult.
