wigmaster0 0
I am looking into getting a 7.62x39 and doing the conversion. I have previous ly converted the 308. I understand that there is something diffrent in the conversion process though. What is it? I just traded my 308 off for a new pistol and I want an inexpensive ammo rifle to have some fun with. Not to mention th conversion process was nearly as fun as shooting the fiearm.

Big Boss 21
I am guessing it's almost the same, except you've got to do extra work if you want to use AK magazines. Quick 7.62x39 conversion breakdown : -remove expanded shoulder, punch out pins, pull out retainer spring, remove guts -Remove sporter plate and re-use / discard trigger-guard -Insert new US-made guts -Drill and tap / rivet bullet guide (AKA feed ramp) into place -Shave mag catch with a GOOD Dremel tool or shave magazine tab to fit with AK mags (be really careful, you are going to remove a LOT of metal to make the mags fit. Don't go crazy, go slow and just fit as you grind) Edited February 14, 2009 by Big Boss
