imarangemaster 315
Does anyone know if the Tapco US compliance "AK gas piston" fits the Saiga? How hard is it to change. It's cheaper than a disconector for my last compliance part so I can use my Galil Mags.

I bought an ak47 Tapco gas piston for my 7.62x39 and noticed it is slightly longer than the stock one so i don't know whether it will work or not.It is about .100-.125 thousandths longer than the original so i also would like to know if i should go ahead and install it or not. vtx1800 1
Tapco no. I know the .308s use the AK-74 length piston, I think they all do. U.S. made avl. at Dinzag Arms. He's on this site.
Lonz 1
AKM pistons will work fine. Grab a tap to chase the threads after you get the old sucker out.
SJgunguy 5
The TAPCO piston works just fine. I would advise against it, in my case it was too much fukn hassle for the part, stick with the O.E. piston. The disconnector ain't shit and if your still short, run some U.S. componets in your mags. I have 2 converted rifles 1 has the TAPCO piston and 1 has the O.E. piston, they both run just fine.
