Saiga 308 thread size?

Recommended Posts

Unfortunely, it can be anything from 14/1LH to 17mm to 5/8x24. I had King Armory (kingarmory.com) to thread mine to 5/8x24. It is the same thread pattern as an AR-10, which allows me to use any muzzle attachments in a popular thread pattern. I picked that because I have a YHM Phantom sound suppressor that is at my dealer waiting for paperwork to clear. One of the quick detach flash hiders that YHM offers is in the 5/8-24 AR-10 thread pattern.

There is some great info & products on the Dinzag site. I am not sure what King Armory did to my barrel, but I am assuming it needed to be turned down slightly to be threaded to 5/8x24. So I don't know if you can do it yourself. Also, if you are ever considering getting a sound suppressor, pay the fiddler (in this case King Armory) to thread it concentric to the bore.

I used 17x1 RH with .30 cal (7.62) TAT - for my 308 wood furniture Saiga with 0.671" and my 30-06 Saiga as well

Following the instructions on Danzags site I ordered a 5/8x24 adjustable die from brownells, removed my FSB reamed it out reset it and threaded the muzzle myself for a YHM Phantom. You can also rent a kit from him to do it yourself or ship the gun to him and he will do it his prices are resonable and his work is excellent. Karl
