Sounds like you're doing everything right. I got a bore snake for cleaning my Mosins. Windex on the first section, a long dry patch, some CLP on the rear and it's good to go. Don't forget to wipe off the bolt face with the same chemicals. I like to decock the bolt and wipe the end of the firing pin off too, just to be sure.

That Bulgarian stuff is most likely steel case with a copper wash. Put a magnet on it, that would pretty much tell you what it's made out of. If it's steel, reloading isn't really worth the time. It's berdan primed, so you can prime it easily, and steel cases are hell on dies if you're not careful. Just keep getting cheap surplus, it kind of makes reloading not worth it unless you're looking for extreme accuracy. I've heard that 91/30's are slightly more accurate with heavy ball than light ball ammo. It may be worth your while to get a few boxes (boxes, not cases) of each and see what works best for you.

Oooh .. be careful with those copper cases, the ones I got are steel core bullets, which are forbidden from most indoor ranges, outdoor places don't really care. Not sure if you can reload them or not, copper is pretty soft, so if they don't deform to much, you may as well give it a try.

Read this article on cleaning... http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting/corrosive/index.asp

Per the case, it shouldn't really matter much, I don't buy from Cheaper Than Dirt any more, due to them price gouging, during the "ammo shortage", I think they were charging $0.75-$1.00 per round for 7.62x39. I prefer Midway USA, their prices are a bit more expensive, but you will get good service.

Anything over 50-inches should be fine for you, maybe one of these..

My Nagant was a bit more different than the standard, looks like this one, below, the Finn Model 28/76 Military Match Rifle, I also have two 91/30's and an M44.

I have a scope mount which replaces the iron sight, if you're interested, I'm not going to use it, send me a PM.

Also, you must check out this site, especially the Model Identification Guide!
